Myself and my father are setting up a hydro system in our closet (about 5x4) and were looking into the efficent led lighting and cfl lighting as he for some reason absolutly refuses to use hps and mh lights, what would be the most cost efficent system for around 3-400$ that would give a nice yeild, thatnks....

look on ebay they got cfl systems with big ass bulbs for like 100-200 bux or just get like 4 43 watt bulbs (at least one per plant)

.

Devge download the light chapter in Weed Science, there are diagrams and charts on lighting requirements.

Check out the CFL sub forum (Indoor Growing) for experts on low light intensity growing.

i think so but ive never grown with led's so my opinion is kinda one sided lol but i have seen some really nice grows with CFL's and i think if you invest the same money in CFL's that you would in LED's its more bang for your buck........ its kinda cool how my grow box evolved now looking at it lol and this was all with like 80 buxx

tell your dad that he is old and that you are young and that in this circumstance you know best and that a single 400 - 600 watt HID is required for maxium yeild.

Cfls are for cloning and seeds IMHO and anything after that will yield serverly diminshed returns later on

LEDS are out of your price range, and arent worth a shit! You are better of with cfls.
Your dad is prob worried about the heat and confusion about seting up a ventilation system.
You need to get your dad on here and show him what a HPS can do!
But if you cant talk him into it you can pull off a nice grow with CFL's.

hes right i use CFL's cus of room and if i spend 400 bux on a light i think my girl would castrate me lol

His primary concern is the heat signiture and the increase in electricity, we are only looking to run it enough to get personal, but as he goes through 1/2 a week, he needs enough to hold him through. What is a HID light? Would that be an alternitive option? Or t5 flourecent lights.
And would I notice a great jump in power bill with the HID light?

I'm sorry if my questions are stupid, thanks for responding!

"His primary concern is the heat signiture and the increase in electricity"

For the same wattage a High Intensity Discharge Light (HPW / MH) runs cooler than CFLs >>>

Watts In = (Light + Heat) Out

HIDs are the most efficient (least electrical cost for the light produced) and produce the least heat, the heat is just concentrated into one point instead of spread around a CFL tube.

I would go with the hps for flowering..nothin can touch it. For veg if you wanna go with something cheaper look into t5 lighting

lol usually if they have more than 1,000 posts id listen to them

and t5 lights are good for clones

A 600 w hps is the same as buying a new computer for your home or a xbox or a space heater. Dude it is not that big of a differance in your bill.

HID=HPS
