First time growing and i got some questions

im going to start growing some pot and i was wondering if after i germanated some seeds can i start them in a big pot or do i have to start them in something smaller like a plastic cup and also i have a Zoo Med ULTRA SUN fluorescent light that i have for my snake and was wondering if this would give the plant the right light it needs thanks for the help

also i dont got any soil from the store but i got a compost out back of my house and i dug up some clean looking soil from there i know the regular soil dont always work but whats the chances that i will grow a healthy plant:-?
 
ou should start in party cups to buil a descent rootball...if u do use compost or soil from the ground u are gonna want to bake it first to kill any bugs or bacteria
 
I plant my seeds right in the 5 gallon bucket they will stay in for the duration. You need so read some threads on soil and what you need to put in it to increase your chance for a good grow.
 
I agree with breather....research a good soil mix(worm castings in humus, organic potting soil, vermiculite, perlite) mix 3-5 gallon containers and plant away!
 
ok this might sound stupid but im real desperate and stoned right now i was wondering if maybe i used some lawn and garden insect killer spray i have that i found in the garage spray it on my soil that i took from outdoors and mix it up maybe you think that will kill parasites in the soil also is it goood to have some worms in the soil?? i tryed lookin this up but i couldent find anything witch prolly means this is a bad idear but i was just wondering thanks for all the help

try this soil mix out it is premium and inexpensive
. you can use your compost in place of the worm castings and get the rest of everything at home depot
