Hello All,

I am a first time Hydro grower.

I am not sure on a few things.

I have top drip setups in place.

1) I am using a 3 gallon bucket, as soon as I get the clone, how do I put it into the net cup? Should i remove all the soil or leave a bit? I know I can push and pull it all off hiwever I dont want to damage the roots. Any tips help:)

2) should i put the water all the way up to the bottom of the net cup so the water is barely touching the water? Or whats best?

3) I have read ppl saying I can leave water on 24/7? the water will be recycling. If not whats the best way to feed the plant water?

4) last qs i promise Lol.. I got some hydro food, however what do u reccomend?

I know its alot, short answers are fine:)

Ok do you have a picture or diagrAm of your system ? It would be reAlly helpfull.

If your clone is in soil and you want it to go into a hydroponic system your gonna have to wash off all of the soil before it goes Into any hydroponic medium or your gonna have problems.

By the sounds of question 2 ur using a top feed/dwc system, is that right ?

At first let the drippers run until the medium is saturated then time how long it takes until you have about 20% run off. The total time it has took from switching on the pump to having 20% run off is your drip time. Now time how long it takes from watering to the point where the medium is almost dry, this will be your interval. So it could be that you need your pump to switch on for an hour then off for 5.

Most of the big brand hydro nutrients will suffice, find a good base nutrient designed for recirculating hydro, I use canna Aqua, it's a 2 part nutrient so you need to add equal parts of a + b. 2 bottles for veg and 2 bottles for bloom. It really doesn't need to be any more complicated than that

Hi,
I dont have a diahram ATM but I can get it later on. Yes I am growing using the top drip hydro system. I bought heavy 16 nutrients.

Also for the watering, I was told by a few ppl u can leave the top drip on all day? Or do a every 20 mins drip for 30 seconds. But alot of ppl said continues water is fine too?.
Are the heavy 16 nutes good?

What medium are you using? If you leave it on continuous your never allowing the medium a chance to atleast partially dry out, some mediums would be ok with this but certainly not rockwool or coco, clay pebbles can be on a continuous drip but in my experience do better with little and often waterings.

I've never heard of those nutes mate but just have a read of some reviews and you'll soon see what people think.

Okay perfect i will research into the nutes. I am using hydroton? Can i do continues drip? If not I am thinking of a 5 min on 5 min off all day. I dont want to go too long without water as im using 1000 watt lights as well as CO2, and AC, humidifer and exhaust for hot air. I want it to have as much as possible without killing it

Go easy on the nutrients mate believe me hydro is a whole different ball game, plants are super sensitive and in hydro you have no buffer like soil. Yeah hydro ton is clay pebbles, you could do a continuous drip but if I were you I'd put an air stone in the water, better still 5 mins on 5 mins off is a good idea. Remember when you allow the medium to drain your filling the rootzzone with lovely fresh air and Plants love it .

One needs to grab a pen & pad, spark one up and READ a bit... do some research, read some successful journals, read some unsuccessful ones.
That's what I did.
When I was given the green light to start a grow, thats ALL I did.
I wouldn't expect someone who has been successful through their own trial and error to just guide me step by step.
I read, everyones grow journals.
Some, I could tell were a joke right off and some were serious shit.
I learned, I used the search buttons to direct my inquiries.
Sure, it's OK to ask for a little help now and then, but for fucks sake, help yourself a bit too?
From what I read in your post so far, you are nowhere near ready to start a hydro setup.
Not that I am any big expert or anything, I am only on my second Hydro grow.
Check the threads in my sig maybe.?
My first version of hydro was fair with 7 ounces from 4 plants.
On my second, and DIFFERENT style of hydro and hope to pull that much or more from 3 plants.

I already told you how to do it... just go read it.

Peace,
FD

Pictures help us.

You provided not enough info.

You used verbage that confuses senior growers.

Like saying soil instead of hydroton.

Your questions are broad, asking the best way to feed a plant can cause ww3 on the forums lol.

Bottom line post pictures of your setup or we can't really help. Post link to a site of the nutrients you bought helps.

I wouldn't 24/7 your top drip, I let mine go 15 minutes every couple of hours. I would top feed while you veg then turn into a dwc in flower by adding an air stone.

I did that with my last plant and was happy. A reservoir helps.

Pictures help.
