First Time Post & First Time Grow!

So this is my first grow I am running a DWC setup in 3 separate 5gal buckets. I am using Kind nutrient solution with CalMag suplements. I have a 600W HPS light over hanging, and two 3200 Lumen LED light strips in the corners(visible in the picture). Humidity ranges from 40% to 45%, and the temp is between 74-82 F. I am ABOUT 6 weeks into flowering. The seeds came from CKS and the strain is "White Widow". My room is 4x4 and 10ft. Currently the plants are at 4.6 feet tall or 55 inches. I obviously topped during veg and left them in veg a little longer than I probably should have.

I'm sure you can tell that I cut a good majority of the fan leaves off about a week ago because I wanted to get maximum light to the plants. I know this practice has some controversy surrounding it but decided to give it a go. The reason for my post is that I'm looking for any pro active advice on increasing yields. I feel like my yields aren't even going to be close to what I estimated. I was hoping to get 2lbs off these at least but by the looks of them I'm not sure they are even going to be remotely close.

Any advice or opinions on what my yield may look like?

First mistake thinking you would get anywhere near 2 pounds off of a 600w light let alone your first grow. For a first grow under a 600w you should be happy with 300g or .5gram a watt. Focus on getting a few basic grows under your belt then start trying things to increase yield.

I see what you're saying. However, If I added the other 600 watt light I have sitting around to my current grow would that increase the over all yield even though I'm almost 6 weeks into flowering? Even if the increase is small I would like to maximize my potential.

I have never tried adding extra light that late in flowering. It may help them bulk up a bit in last two weeks or may just be a waste of electric. Sorry I only answer questions I have experience with. Dont like giving out guesses

hey mate, nice work so far!.
i'll add a few pieces for you,...
My first grow i used a single 600W hps start to finish and all i did was work then home to research about growing and i did that the entire length of my first grow.
I dont claim to be a professional, however i managed a bit over a pound from 4 plants in 7.5L pots just through reading and learning everything i could.
I also defoliate HEAVILY throughout veg and flower, however 6 weeks into flower is a touch too late to try and form new bud sites as most of that was sorted out around the 1-4 week mark from this point on it will only fill out (if it even does that much more).
I feel you should expect to crack about 10-12 ounces of dried bud by the time your done, but obviously i wouldnt be suprised if it came out to 16 oz either.
For your next grow and even from now i would strongly suggest you pour ALL of your available time into researching and trying to learn about everything to do with this great hobby, especially if you wish to grow some big yields as you cant just ''wing it'' and manage 1.5g/W+.
But youve done well so far either way i wouldnt be disapointed.

Thanks for all the info, I will try adding the second light in hopes it will bulk up some more during these last two weeks. Also, should I go ahead and pull the nutrient water out at the end of week 6 and let them sit in PH'd water for the remainder of two weeks?

WELCOME to RIU. You will find a lot of great information on here, but also some not so great information. The most important thing is to continue to learn and do individual research to find what works best for you in your garden. Make use of the forums search bar, as this is a great way to find threads that are posted on topics and questions you may have. Furthermore, don't take information as being a 100% valid without verification, I prefer members who have photos, videos, etc to back there claims, but even then every garden and grower are different.

Finally, please know that "Well-Known Member" doesn't necessarily equal "Great/Knowledgable Grower" as many new members tend to make this assumption. I am a prime example of a new grower, who has received this status simply because of my activity on the forum!

Best of lucky with all your grows and again welcome to the RIU community!

Please for the sake of us all, if you want input on how your plants are, what to expect and so on....SHUT OFF THE HPS before taking pictures. This will give a clearer example of what state the plant is actually in rather then just being a yellow glow. Added light the end of flower isn't something I have done, however seems to be the exact opposite of what would happen in nature in my mind. Just my 2 cent, but looking nice from what I can tell in your photos.

Thanks for all the information guys! I'm glad I joined this forum and I hope to learn a lot from you all. I will make sure to shut of HPS before anymore pictures :P. Can anyone confirm to me regarding the last two weeks of flowering and removing the nutrient based water and replacing with just regular PH water? I had read that when I did a lot of the pruning of the water leaves that it could slow the growing process down and don't want to mess up estimating the time to run the plants through clean water. So, based on my current pictures (last night) does it look like I'm 2 weeks off from harvest?

if youve grown the whole thing with nutrients then yes the last 2 weeks of flowering you will want to just feed your beautiful ladies PH'ed water, your leaves will definately turn yellow and die off but dont worry about that its just normal.

Or you could check out this thread: https://www.rollitup.org/t/the-truth-about-flushing.409622/ and form your own decision. Many don't flush at all, some flush at a 2/1 ration of water/soil, others will let the medium dry, and some will even water with boiling water. This would be my recommendation rather then just following the gospel of any one person. It's a long thread but lots of detailed information, and also a lot of variety of ideas within the thread from numerous people.

I'm with tnt on that one, knowledge is something you can't just obtain from asking questions and winging it it does require a lot of research.
I however have read that post and others like it, I also do ALOT of trial grows incorporating other techniques and trying to push my plants to see what actually works and blah blah.
In my experience and obviously strain dependant the flushing results in a smoother smoke with less curing time and it won't hurt your yields.
However if that's not an issue for you then by all means :)
But yes definitely read as much as you can and make your own decision based on the input of many.

Flushing is strain dependent? Care to explain?
You do ALOT of trial grows? You just finished your first grow in January didn't you?
Stop spreading misinformation please.

no captain ego, some strains dont need to be flushed if all your worried about is a clear tasty smoke.
And yes i do ALOT of trial grows, just because i dont spend my life on a forum doesnt mean i dont get shit done.

Ok so i have recently harvested all of my buds, and this my first grow.
I may have pulled them down from drying a bit early (just shy of 3 days), because the buds drying on the outside of my clothes drying rack were getting crunchy but when i got to the middle it was still sticky-ish but not overly wet.
Now is there a way to slowly dry my buds while im curing in glass jars?
I left the jars open for just over an hour tonight and the top layer got a bit crispy which to me would suggest if i let the top crisp up the bottom nugs will then lend ''wetness'' to the top layer thus slowly drying the whole jar?
Or am i asking for trouble by doing this?
^^^^^^^^
This is your thread from jan 16 Can i dry buds slowly by curing. Remember? You were lying then or you're lying now, either way you're lying.
Taste comes from a proper dry and cure thats it. I don't have an ego, I'm not trying to be something i'm not. Thats what you're doing pretending to be some growing guru when its clear that you're clueless. People like you are the reason theres so much bad info and bro science on these forums, One or two grows and you're george cervantes, compulsive liar. Stop fucking up peoples grows with your bullshit.

If you are wanting to know what your yield. Nobody can tell you. It comes down to the size of space your running; Along with: Light wattage and the right bulb and training methods for example topping or not/ scrog.

Lots of factors come into yield. Most important thing that helps determine yield is size space you are running with. Based off other people's grows and some info online, in a 4x4 space you could maybe pull anywhere from 8 to 21 ounces; If you do everything perfect = appropriate soil, lighting, nutrients, airflow, temperature, training method, etc.

Any advice
My advice is to not defoliate the fan leaves so much.

The only time I cut a fan leaf off, is when it is near death.
I will tuck a fan leaf or trim it to keep it from hitting a light bulb; but you should never defoliate all the fan leaves (unless they are hanging up to dry from after harvest).

Tuck them out of the way or trim them; but do not cut them all off...

I have 4 rooms, I harvest every 3 weeks plus I have my outdoor area aswell.
P.s my gram/w ratio is MUCH higher than yours, results speak for themselves.
Now stop hijacking o.p post you ignorant fucking cunt.
I never once tried to say I'm a guru I give advice that's true based on my own findings.
Go and get a bit of fresh air you pathetic online troll, nobody here needs your arguments.

Yeah, I definitely see where I went overboard. The biggest issue I was having was being able to move around in the room. I appreciate the advice!

Your defoliating is fine you haven't gone overboard at all.
However it's only your first grow so defoliating to that extent is always frowned upon because sometimes the plants go into shock or just simply don't like it.
Potentially it could have started to die and you would have been stuck with how to fix it because you haven't had to deal with it yet.
Always start small with defoliation until you know what to expect
