no i dont use a glovebox, I just sterilize a small bathroom or closet by bleaching the helll out of it so, give the bleach about 5mins to settle and get to work..

On the carmilization part, you notice that the water is alot more dense than a regular bottle of water, if it "thuds" when you shake a jar rather than splashing around in the jar its most likely carmelized. Just toss any carmilized jars because u want just sterile water, not sterilze carmilized water.

Whats up? I was hopin i got a package today, no dice. Just checked all jars again, no contamination.
 
It will be there soon man, it sux to wait i know. if its not there by thursday, ill overnight you some UPS style.

Your jars wont go bad or anything, letting them sit a little longer than expected is okay, its also kinda good so u know theres no "Slow" germinating triche spores(or any spores u dont want and tried to kill with the PC)

Ur sitting pretty now, after you get the spores in the jars, youll only have about 45days of work til you hit your goal, if all goes right.
 
It easiest to use a 15-30gallon sterilite tub with a lid.
Cut a 10" x 10" Hole in the lid and tape clear plastic or syran wrap over it like a window
You going to need about 2 bags of perlite.
Fill your tub about 2-3in full of Perlite and hydrate it to field compacity.

FIELD CAPACITY is a term used for measuring the moisture of certain mediums. after soaking your medium, you dont really want drippy over watered "anything, soil, perlite, ect) Squeeze by the handfulls, youll know your at Field Capacity when you squeeze and only get a few drips of water fall from your medium.

Perlite lets airflow alot better than soil so its a good idea to add a bottle of water to your field capacity perlite to ensure that you get your desired relative humidity in the fruiting chamber. your looking for 100% Relative Humitidy, but anything over 80% is acceptable for fruiting.

youll want to put a heating pad under your tub to heat the water/perlite and create higher humidity. Temp should be anywhere between 80-100degrees(F) Heat doesnt have as much of an effect on growth as humidity.

Now that you have your tub on the heating pad, the tub has your 2-3in of perlite, put a small CFL above your 10x10 window and your set to put your fully colonized cakes or tubs in and start the fruiting process.

Right on! I have seen some drill a bunch of holes in the sides and top. They called it a shotgun chamber or something? What are the advantages and disadvantages to this method compared to yours?
So i will just keep spraying them with water a few times a day to maintain humidity at 100? What is an average yield per a pint cake size dry? How many times do you flush per cake- when do you know when to stop flushing?

They are really about the same, in fact it might be a good idea to drill some holes in your tub about 4in from the bottom so that the holes are just above the perlite giving you a little fresh air.
The shotguns that are drilled out so bad they look like you hit em a couple times with a shotgun is kinda "out there" in my opinion. Think about it, if your trying to raise your humidity level, holes all through the tub will let the moisture out, therefore dropping the Relative humidity in the fruiting chamber.
Granted mushrooms have to have some fresh air to live, but opening your tub every 6-8 hours and gently fanning the tub with the lid will fill the Fruiting chamber full of fresh air to humidify. Some people will run a small airstone under the perlite if they arent avaliable to fan 3-4 times daily.

with the method you are using you wont just fruit the cakes, youll spawn(or dump from jar to innoculate another meduim) the colonized corn to your final substrate(Manure, straw, vermiculite) in small tubs, or bowls.

If you were just fruiting a pint sized cake, you may get 10g dry TOPS. now with a spawn method, the manure will add great size to your mushrooms, Verm lets the air flow and colonization to go faster, the straw will add size and pinset.

interesting...do i need to go out and get more substrate?
 
You pinset is a basic count of how many mushroom heads pop through the substrate in any particular area, in your case the pinset area will consist of top surface of your conlonized substrate in the tub. You want as many, if not the whole substrate surface, to be covered in little white ball looking things, in good conditions all of these "balls" will soon form mushroom heads. This is a nice pinset, instead of just one shroom, there is multiple shrooms from the same base.

The Puerto Rican Angel was a accidental blessing of my mushroom research. I worked with a Puerto Rican strain and isolated it 3 times and one day i looked and the mycelium formed an angel shape.

It was weak mycelium but I isolated just the angel and spawned it to popcorn, 3 isolations later this was what i found in my tub.

Well Over 130g dry, around 800g wet(This is an excellent pinset and Epic grow for me)

This is a not so excellent pinset but acceptable. Ive seen some 4liter tubs only yield on big shroom, it happens.

You can if you want to, its mostly free. check craigslist for cow or horse manure, its good for all gardens and farmers dont want it. When you get to the "farm" where u get the manure get OLD, DRIED UP, ROCK HARD, Halfway decomposed crap. Nothing with any green in it, this will cause nastyness u dont want. The poo should be rock hard, grab a cowpie and it should be like holding a plate, light wieght and stiff as a rock, and barley crumbling when you squeeze it hard

Most of the time u can ask the people u get the poo from if you can get a few handfuls of straw for your pet rabbits ;)

Thats it, your set. and if you cant find any ads for free manure, go drive a country road, theres not gonna be a farmer 1 shoot you for reaching under his fence to grab a handful of shit.

So you scraped off the angel mycellium and isolated it into a new jar? Thus giving you puerto rican angel? So say you grow out that first batch, you then look for a jar that is growing the mycellium fast- and isolate this- strengthening the speed in which the isolation takes place? Do you ever hand pick certain shrooms and use those to make spores? What do you look for when choosing to isolate/make spores?
So...not all shrooms are the same in a single batch?

Yes i cut just the angel out of the agar and put it in one jar. after that jar colonized with the PRA genetics, I G2G'd or dumped small amounts of my colonized popcorn into Sterilized popcorn jars just like the ones you made, thus giving me a mass quantity of PRA Spawn. I then spawned those jars to tubs with poo/verm/straw, once those colonized I fruited them and isolated from the biggest shroom that was in the areas with best pinsets further strengthen the qualities I wanted in this strain.
The Goal with PRA (after the angel apeared) was to make the best strain ive ever grown or eaten, I was looking for an excellent pinset, got it. I was looking for LARGE shooms, got it. I was also looking for the genetic traits to come through in the spore prints, this is a tale tale way to know a strain has been heavily isolated, alot of unisolated strains will give you 1 really great tub and 5 shitty ones, not PRA.

I printed all mine, ever cap was cut off and printed before it went to the dehydrator. a spore is a spore good or bad its a starting point that can end in something worth your effort.

Its the same shroom in every batch, they are all P. Cubensis mushrooms, the genetics or names poelpe put on the are of the origin of that particular spore print. But your not going to have a tub grow 2 seperate genotypes, the stronger genotype will take over or they both will kill eachother in the making.

Hmm interesting...what happens if you dont use a dehydrator?
 
Nothing, i just used a dehydrator because it makes it alot faster than drying 500g of shrooms on a bed under a fan. So the dehydrator is used for the drying process of the final fruits. If you dont wanna spring for one, pizza boxes work really well ;)
 
Oh ok, do i need to release the pressure from the jars before inoculation?

About half of the popcorns skin is peeling from core. Is this normal?
 
goodolboy, how do you know your shrooms are safe to ingest. Seems alot of people think they can be dangerous when you grow them yourself. I have to disagree as someone has to grow every shroom i have ingested.

Do you test each batch at a quarter dose or something? How often do you hear of people dying from shrooms? Is this because they overdose- not knowing the potency? What is responsible for the deaths if any?

You can release the pressure by flaming a needle and sucking up the extra air in your spore water jar, since its been PC'd its sterile. Then just inject the needle in your corn jars it will suck the air out..

The corn should be good as long as theres not whitish clear mush(yeast) at the bottom of the jars, excuse the term, but it looks like someone busted a nut in your corn jar. that should be the only reason your corn would be bad..

Ill eat a small pin, half grown shroom, full grown, wet or dry. as long as your not eating a posoinous mushroom you can eat it at any time. Its when UNEDUCATED people go out in the field and pick a bunch of mushrooms they "think" are magic and they grab the wrong ones. If it wasnt for this there would be a chance that Psilocyn and Phsilocybin could be legal, research has shown that both help phycological and depression problems. and Ill be #1 to tell you "fuck a asprin" a cap or two has always gotten rid of any migrane ive had.

Ive always gone by this, "if it grows it goes" Marijuana is illegal but one of the most benificial plants on earth. and P.cubensis is also illegal, yet one of the most medically benificial fungi's. So Fuck You Government! lol
