First Time

Hi there, I'm new to this forum, I've actually been lurking for a while now, but this is my first attempt growing, so I figured I would make an account so I can ask questions and such.

So my set up is as follows:
32x32x65 tent
1500w Yeshence light(it was 150 bucks off amazon, so i know that it isn't ACTUALLY 1500w more than likely, but it got great reviews so i figured it would be fine, so far the plants seem to like it just fine)
Vivosun 6in fan that came with a carbon filter, i don't have the filter on yet but i will when they get close to flowering)
Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil and fox farm nute trio.

Right now I've got 2 Critical Purple Kush and 2 Aurora Indica going, all fem. They popped out of the ground on the 9th. I've got them in red solo cups, i duct taped the cups cuz I had read that they aren't light proof, so I'm just being overly cautious. I have them on 20/4 right now, mainly because i don't have a timer yet, so i had to make sure it was a time i would be home from work to turn them off and then back on in a few hours.

My temps average 77-84 light on and about 70-75 with the lights off. Humidity is like 45-50, sometimes it's 40. It was like low 30s, I don't have a humidifier in there, but i put some bowls of water in there snd and it's raised it to where it's at now.

I'm not sure what my PH is atm or my ppm, but i have been using distilled water and no nutes. Tomorrow I plan on getting a timer for the lights and the PH meter, also a little fan to go on the inside(I have a room fan pointing in the flap in the back of the tent and that seems to be doing fine, but I'd rather the fan be on the inside and close up that flap). Once i get the timer for the lights, I'm probably going to switch them to 18/6 since there seems to be more of a consesus on that being the best lighting schedule. My light is about 2ft above them. I was just using the veg setting on the light but they seemed to like it better and perk up more when i put both the veg and bloom lights on)

I have the fans going constantly, is that fine? I turn off the out fan sometimes for like an hour, but mostly I just leave them both on. Is that ok?

I'm sorry about the purple light in the pictures, I'll take some better ones later when i get home. The two in the front are the critical and the back two are the aurora. The pictures are from tuesday the 12th, so 3 days after they popped out of the ground, they're a nice healthy green(i know you can't tell cuz of the purpleness)

So if anyone has any thoughts or opinions that would be great, this is my very first attempt, but it has been a dream of mine forever to be able to finally do this, so I'm a little over excited and worried I think it would be safe to say. I've watered them twice, but only a little bit of water since they're babies, but still I'm like constantly checking on them haha. Anyways, happy to be here!!

Hey welcome

You seem like you did some research before you started, you sound like you got the basic idea figured out .

Yes you can keep fans running all the time. Strengthens stems and obv good air flow

You already know your light isn't the best and it may be fine for vegging but I'm not sure if that light will cover or have enough penetration for a 32x32 footprint for flowering. You may want to considering flipping them when they are mature and ready as that space will fill up very quick with 4 plants and any length of veg time.

Get the timer and definitely get something to test ph

Fox farms ocean Forrest is very nice for newbies, keeps things simple. Especially in the early stages when all you need is ph'd water

Best of luck with it all

Thanks for the reply!! Yeah, I plan on here in the next few weeks getting some supplemental lights that i can put along the side or something to add some more light in there.

Also yeah, after I germ'd the 4 and put them in there, i got to thinking that it's going to probably be quite cramped in there when they get bigger. I've been reading about LST, and so i planned to train them some and tie them down to hopefully control them better. Because the plan is to transfer them from the solo cups into some 5 gal fabric pots in a few weeks, which i know really i should have a middle gal, like 2 or 3 gal, but I'm kond of afraid to transplant too much my first go round and literally no one sells different sizes of fabric pots around here.

But if it ends up being to cramped or somethong, this first experience is a learning one, so if i get something usable out of it I'll be pretty happy and learn something for the next go round, i still have like 10 more seeds that I ordered and I have a bunch of bag seeds. I've been keeping a written journal as well to keep track of everything. I'll post some more pictures when i turn the lights back on, i forgot when i got home to take some, so they're sleeping now haha, but they've gotten bigger :)

Honestly, first to round could be more difficult with you putting small seedlings in a big pot. Watering takes a bit of time to practice and get right. Smaller pots are easier in my opinion. I go from solo cup to half gallon but you can be fine going into the 5. Just read as much as you can on watering

Yeah, I'm definitely watching my watering and reading a lot about it, because I'm thinking I might have the potential to over water more than under water. It's kind of hard for me to leave them alone haha, but I know patience is key. Ive been reading that when i put them in the bigger pots, to just water around the base of the base of the plant, and gradually increase as the plant grows and needs more, correct?

Hey man I’m very new to this all too I just started my first grow and thought it would be smart to mix coco with ocean forest...... DO NOT DO THIS ... my plants got fucked and I’m basically starting all over so everything is looking good on your end just make sure you are sticking to just soil fox farm is great but just use plain phd water in the beginning at about week 3 you can introduce your nutes at about half the recommended strength just take it slow and easy... also come here for any questions everyone is insanely helpful and want to see you grow successfully :blsmoke::blsmoke::bigjoint:

My 2¢ ....

First ... welcome. Looks like you are focused on doing things right.

Keep both switches on .... hang approx 22” - 24” for this stage .
FFOF is highly amended and will carry those plants for weeks ( once uppotted ) .
No special water is necessary. I run tap with FFOF since it is prebuffered.

Pick a ppm / ph meter ( amazon ) and a bottle of calmag. Calmag under LED grows often is a necessary evil. So this may be needed from time to time . But can be added as part of watering.

Timers can be simple mechanical peg set type ( few dollars ) even at 99¢ store. This way your panel can stay on a stable schedule. You may encounter some stretch during this phase but it is correctable once you transplant ( and bury the stem ) . You don’t need to do much as this soil will do the main feeding.

It’s the watering you have to keep in check , in a solo ( not much ) ... and make sure they can drain .

Your set up is like my current first LED seed to flower grow. I stated three beans, each in 5 gal containers. (I often go from solo cup to 5 gal. Less repotting. Does well for me.) LED is on veg and flower from the beginning.
This set up in my veg tent is doing very well!
I hope your grow does as well or better.
