Alright so everytime i go to visit my crop there is at least one plant missing. And its just the stock still there so im assuming it would be deer. So recently i went and bordered my plants with fishing line. I raped it around the area at least 10 times to just make sure. I went to go check on them again today and what do you kno...another one gone!!!!!:wall: I have been told that this whole theory witht he fishing line works.....apparently not. so now i was thinkin about bording the area with blood meal....i kno it will attract coyotes but will it keep deer at bay?

Just throw some chicken wire around them, spray paint it black. You can always get some deer repellant too.

I have heard a lot of people having problems with deer. I would normally recommend pissin around your plants, hair and sweat soaked tee shirts, but I have heard people saying that these methods have failed them too. try those and if they don't work don't waste anytime in buying some commercial deer repelant.

...what lb test line were u useing? i use 80 lb test, and i only used 3 lines and it's worked fine, you have to go heavy duty on the line.

strange for deer to take just one plant at a time......if deer was the problem there would be obvious signs(tracks, trails, broken branches ect).....i have lost crops to deer but fishing line works. best solution is a fence if it is feisable(make sure it is at least 8 feet high!)

the screwed up thing is.... i put a bunch of my hair around the site...ive pissed everywhere AND i went and bought some repellant. I just dont understand. Also the thing i dont understand is....the deer walks buy my 2 BIGGEST plants everytime and go for the smaller ones.

Deer will eat your stalk off with precision to the point where it almost looks like someone has cut it with a blade. But if you think it is rippers leave bait and see if they take.

Perhaps the younger vegetation is less bitter. How is fishing line supposed to deter deer? I've seen deer leap from standing still, all but straight up in the air, and easily clear 8 feet fences and land only six feet beyond. IMO, if a deer. elk, antelope sets it's sight on your pot, you're screwed.
Indigenous predator urine I might try. Fortunately lots of bears around here.

the fishing line diggs into the deer when it walkes into it. this is also a fear tactic in that a deer won't try to jump a barrier that it can't even see. i put a line at 2' 3 1/2' and 5' and i only have to replace a couple lines a year. i use a threaded strong line tho, you an get 100 lb test spyder wire for under twenty bucks.
