You control the line with your thumb on the spool, and adjust the spool speed to the weight of what your throwing. A little practice and it will amaze you the accuracy you can have with a baitcaster.

You want the lure to slowly go down when you release the spool. Not super fast but not to slow, you can adjust it with one of the knobs on the side. You gotta readjust with every lure though because obviously they're different weights.

Set the spool brakes to every other, or two opposing. Then it’s just a matter of adjusting the line tension knob as described above.

I only rock bait casters unless i absolutely cannot. Like for surf fishing, banking it for sturgeon etc.

When you get really good, you can turn off all the spool brakes, And only deal with the line tension. Can cast the farthest this way when needed.

Been fly fishing and tying flies since I was 11. Got my guide license at 15. Lived and fished from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. Has been as much a part of my life as cannabis, and I give it just as much credit for saving my life. Not so much first hand medical, but by keeping me grounded and out of trouble due to all the time I spent alone in the middle of nowhere on some river. Cannabis and fly fishing have not only saved my life. They have been my life for 27 years now.
Now to go see what I have for pictures lol

One of my camping spots on the kalum river northen BC. Was a great week of steelhead fishing .

My favorite spot in the whole world. I will leave it un named other then to say it has the hardest fighting Atlantic Salmon I have ever caught.
