actually I turned them all loose. My buddy doesn't like people keeping them. In fact i'm one of only a handful that is allowed to fish there. 10+acre private pond :)

Sadly in order to appreciate native stocks id have to prob trespass and murder someone nowadays lol, however i should state that theres really good fishing still to be had(if you like bringing up browns that feel lke car tires) up here even though the pressure on lake champlain lately is stupid ridiculous i still love the small mouth fishing here, gotta be one of the best smallie fisheries in the world. the salmon(landlocked btw) will run soon, then i can take out the ole shimano/uglystick and start slaying.

awesome thread. here in Australia, I have a little boat that I like do a little inshore fishing for species we call Skippy, king George Whiting, herring. But my real love is fishing my beloved Swan River where I target Black Bream, a light tackle target that takes worms, bony herring fillets, prawns or small lures. I use shop bought frozen river prawns. My best fish has been 38 cm, a fish of 45cm is a trophy. Here are some pics I took just recently, not huge fish but good fun on light gear and all my (river) catches go back unharmed :)

Never done any salt water fishing but I can just imagine how exciting it would be. Love grilled mahi mahi and tuna. Barracuda fishing might be pretty exciting. Shark fishing is just on a level of its own haha.
Barracuda often hit after you hook what you're looking for(tarpon as well). This happened to me once off a pier in Florida. I had a rig set-up that snared a mackerel, then a fairly large barracuda came along and left me nothing but the head.

...Can't wait for the weather to get nice again.
me neither, 420. Ponds around here just starting to open up, probably another 3 weeks until early bass fishing. Matter of fact, I think I'll get high and go to the tackle store and see what's new:)

It'll be a while before I can get out on the water. Ice is thicker this year than it ever has been. Probably be a month or more yet.

Albino blue marlin surprises anglers off Costa Rica; ‘Definitely not a typical day’
Extremely rare catch made after an hour-long fight off Los Suenos

Anglers and crew fishing in the Pacific off Costa Rica on Tuesday were astonished to discover that a large marlin they hooked was completely white.

The extremely rare catch of an albino blue marlin was made aboard the Spanish Fly, a 43-foot yacht that runs from Maverick Sportfishing out of Los Suenos. (It could be that the marlin was leucistic, with reduced pigmentation, and not a true albino lacking all pigmentation. But just about everyone is referring to the billfish as true or partial albino.)

The boat was captained by Juan Carlos Fallas Zamora, with mates Carlos Pollo Espinoza Jimenez and Roberto Chelato Salinas Hernandez. The clients were Bob and Karen Weaver, veteran anglers from New York. Karen reeled the marlin in after an hour-long fight, and the crew carefully released the billfish.

The boat’s regular captain, Daniel Espinoza, stated on Facebook that he chose the wrong day to take a day off. He posted the accompanying photos on his page, though, saying the group “had an amazing day and confusión. Caught one Blue Marlin alvino, first time I hear of one. Congratulations on that great job.”

Sportfishing report announced the catch on its Facebook page in all caps: “SUPER RARE ALBINO BLUE MARLIN!!!”

Red.Rum Sportfishing, based in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, shared the photos under the heading: “RARE ALBINO BLUE MARLIN!”

Jason Schratwieser, a spokesman for the International Game Fish Association, said by telephone that he shared the photos with several veteran angles, and none had ever seen a white blue marlin.

The Espinozas and Weavers were pre-fishing before a major tournament Wednesday, and unavailable for comment.

Glen Mumford, owner of Maverick Sportfishing, said via telephone that his captains have seen albino sailfish, but never a white blue marlin.

“It was definitely not a typical day,” Mumford said.
