Fixing holes in the wall.

I vent my exhaust air into the ductwork of my home. It worked out fairly well untill I had to raise my light. To cut the reduction of air transmission, I raised the exhaust hole. Now, I have a hole in my wall that ducttape and cardboard are not helping to cover, given that I am flowinf 459 cfm of air into a hole about three feet above it.
I need something to cover the hole, something that will hold and use the force of the fan to hold it in place, instead of allowing the air from the ductwork blow it out.

any suggestions on what to do?

PLASTER BOARS, ITS ONLY CHEAP. 2 OR 3 £ OR $Or Just Use What You Have, No NailS, Grout , Anythig, But No Lite Leaks, If You Can Help It.

hmmm. that is very interesting, do you happen to have a pic of how you have your venting done, I was considering doing somethinglike that but didnt know how to set it up and all. thanks

Venting into your homes ducts can turn bad very quickly if your using a power vent or a inline exhaust fan,if your exahaust is under power with an inlline fan make sure the fan itself is inside your duct with the air flow pushing twords the registers,if your inline fan is not inside the duct there is nothing controling the direction of the air flow.

If you do this any other way you run a huge explosion risk,pushing air through your ducts can creat a back pressure & blow out your furnace,water heater or any other gas appliance that is connected to the duct system.

I would find another way.

the air flows upwards through the wall, through insulation and into the attic.
I really dont know any other option other than that.

My grow is taking up the entire closet, and running an exhaust duct into my bedroom dosent sound too grand.

Well im not saying that your going to blow up for sure but back flow on home heating is a real danger with real consequence's,one of which could very well be explosion.

If there are other people in the home who are not aware of a potential explosion hazard then you should put some time & effort into finding another venting solution,at the very least install an inline (BACKFLOW PREVENTER) behind the air flow to be sure no forced air is hitting the furnace.

The easiest way is not always the best solution to a problem,especially when others can get hurt unknowingly.

Well,, If the hole you cut is drywall, just scre a flat piece of wood across the hole,,, get a little peice of drywall, cut to size of hole and a piece of dw tape and dw mud and your in business,, although this seems east to me since I am a drywaller,,, the last of a dying breed of drywaller (white).....:peace:...............

Ya got that right brother,it's not just your trade either,its every trade.

Ive been in the union trades close to 30 years now( 6 more fukin years & im retired)the pursuit of employers for more production ran its course & is killing the trades,the men in most cases are maxed out as far as production volume,in order to keep numbers low & profit margins high we now have the explosion of migrants that all the trades are dealing with.

As long as hes mexican,, he must be a proffesional,, dumb ass people,, they dont understand,, you get what you pay for, then they have to hire me to fix all the work........unemployed for 5 months now,, lonest time ever for me, been doing this for 22 years........I haved lived here all my life and cant get a job cause Im not the right color,,, even the formans dont speak english..... imigration wont even do anything...........................:peace:.........................

Now you need to finish that exhaust system. Do not just dump that warm, moist air into you attic, vent it to the outside. A roof hat work for an 8" duct or you can vent out the gable end. Mold and or rain will be the result of not doing this, trust me on this one. VV:blsmoke:
