Yupp, some moss developed on the top layer of soil after flower...
I topped my hempy buckets with about a 2 inch layer of organic soil, helps keep the perlite from going everywhere, and wicks water to the top real well.

Interesting my fans blow my perlite and my soil when it drys.. Ill have to try that!

You can also use hydroton if you don't want to deal with the soil.

Mr FJG, so I assume you at some point guessed as to when to start flushing right? So have they jsut been getting water for a while now or when did you start that? ANDD what did you look for in the ladies to tell you that you should start your flush?
Just put those 4 clones in lil solo cup humpy's... DUDE lol.. they respond very well in that stuff man. 3to1 perl and verm. They've taken off like right away... I MAY have to change my flood and drain buckets system to some damn hempy's man lol
Only thing i wanna try and do is setup some auto water/feed ssystem tho. Got so many damn pumps and what not lol..

Only flushed a couple days now for the last 2 plants , the other one i already chopped had a flush last week, I tend to not believe in flushing as much as others but to each his own...
I was taught not to starve my plants in the time they need it the most...no time for debating here but i try all diff methods, this time flushing was not a priority... i did not flush with the mazar x white rhino, and the smoke is very potent. clean, no harshness... to each his own..

I see both sides of the flush/not flush argument. I have done both. I do flush. However... I feel like the time to flush is when the plant is truly "looking" done. which I described to you. It can help the plant ripen to the desired point prior to cut. I did not account for this when writing you.

Yes i completely agree with you there, If these plants "looked" more finished and the pistls were receding like normal i would give a nice 3 day flush then let it dry for 3 days then chop, but this is a first time with this happening and a plant not wanting to finish, so I'm playing it by the hip right now… always learning!

I may try not flushing this run... my buds werent as pungent smelling as i would like. they LOOK GREAT. Lacking in taste and smell tho. They dont smell or taste BAD, BUT they dont smell or taste GOOOOD either.. Cool dudes, thanks

Yeah as to flushing it really comes down to a timing issue for me, if the strain was dialed in and i was running this cut for a while i would know exactly what to feed and when to stop and flush etc, but with a new strain its always a guessing game
Budtoker, How long have the been curing, and what are your curing drying methods? I believe the taste is really from a good cure.

I have been curing now for probably like 3 weeks.. maybe lil longer i forget now. Thing is, i think they dreid too quick. I wanted to do a slow long cure, two weeker.. they were snappin off the stem at 7 days tho... so, it was too dry. our temps are like -10 F and like 10%RH. so i was pumping humidity INTO the grow room. but it was alwasy a fight to keep it up. so i think it was too dry RH wise.
What im doing for curing, i got 2 zips in each large mason jar so thiers like a quarter of the space above the buds and lid so thier not too packed. Got 1-2 boveda's in em too. With some RH mason jar lids. they holding at 61-62 no prob. They are still really good. Im jsut very critical expecially of my own shit and i KNOW it can smell and taste better. IT HAS TO lol

I did this too. It actually seems possible to "blow the taste off".
One of the saddest things possible, but it was a very early crop
and I was happily ignorant, to some degree.

Well they DID also get cut lil early. who know if it was just a couple days or could have gone another week. but my vegging plants WERE EXPLODING!!! and i HAD to get them into flower or they would be unmanagable.
This run, they will get all the time they need. And hopeully i can dry slower this time..

My mazar x White rhino, Rhinozar about 4 weeks of curing, 5 week since chop. Nice and fluffy dense buds, coffee yet fruity aroma, very crystal covered, orange hairs
The smoke is nice, calming effects, not a typical indica that would put you on the couch though, gives me the energy when i need it, good for all day smoke...
In jars with boveda packs... For you guys that were puffin in the 90's to early 2000's and received some "Dro" as they called it for some reason, this is what the smell reminds me of... makes sense because it was white widows and members of the white fam that were becoming popular, the hybrids were becoming bigger, this has that old school dro widow smell, if you understand that , LOL real old school high i really enjoy it, like a throw back indica smoke...

Do any of you dudes know how bad it is for Botanicare Sweet to freeze? I jsut ordered a 2.5 galloner like two weeks ago. we had effed up cold ass weather that stalled all my orders by like a week, and i just picked it up from my front step and its like not ROCK HARD frozen but frozen enough were its pushing the sides out slightly... If its gonna be fine when it thaws then Cool... im hoping thats the case.. Sorry brother man, off topic

I'm Sure it will be fine, let it fully thaw and return to room temp at its own pace, don't heat or anything to prevent any further damage but im sure it'll be fine. I haven't used botanicare sweet maybe someone else can chime in though.... must be really cold where you at to freeze like that brrrr
No, i have yet to grow out widow myself, but smoke tons of it, an old school fav to me, rhino reminds me of it... the original beans are from mr nice i believe, and called Black widow now.
