Flash flood water?

We had a flash flood in my community and it destroyed allot of homes, vehicles and roads. The local water supply is tainted with bacteria after the flash flood. Health department says to boil before use. Is it safe to feed my plants from my ro system still or is that a bad idea cuz of bacteria? My ro system doesn't have a uv sterilizer

I wouldn’t take the chance, could lead to root rot or end up cultivating in the soil and cross contaminate your product by hand handling . Don’t want you to get sick.

But do boil it first and let cool down to room temp if you do.

That's what the health department suggests to boil it before using. I was afraid of root rot too. I currently use hydroguard but thinking maybe I should run sterile with sodium hypoclorite or h202 to kill any bacteria. Not sure what to do. My stove broke the other day so I can't boil water. I don't want to use tap. But I don't want to use ro water and ruin my ro system either. I'm in a serious fucking pickle. I have to change 3 buckets tonight and 3 tomorrow. There due. And I'm like fuck. I only have a few weeks left to go. Tomorrow is week 5. I'm so close. Why does shit like this have to happen? Fuck my life

i'd just not use my RO system till they'd cleaned things up. why put the wear and tear on it if you don't have to? it won't last long, strain some water into buckets and boil it, boiled water should be fine for plants, but if you're worried, dose it with some hydrogen peroxide, too

Broke til Friday. Payday. Lol and the roads are all destroyed. I don't even know if I'm able to get to Walmart if I did have money now

I would use your water as is for your plants. I have serious doubt that water will fuck up your plants. But hit it with a bit of h2o2 and it’ll be fine. I’d just worry about boiling water for yourself.

I just looked on health department site and our ban was lifted in my town so it's safe. They just wanted to check it before we drank it.

Are you sure about that?
Does anybody else have some backup information? Because I thought the sterilizers we're to keep new microbes from settling in, not sterilizing the bacteria that made it through.

You may be right. I'm not 100 percent site bud. I thought it was for bacteria? I dunno. Google does wonders. Lol

RO membranes don't wear out from bacteria, you knob. The shit from the turbidity does. Like sand etc. What do you think happens,when it's removing contaminants? It will ruin the membranes more quickly.

Drinking water is still good for city water. Lakes and beaches are all closed to swimming due to e coli and bacteria in the water. Bummer
