She would soak the reeds to make them pliable and less likely to break during weaving process. She made and sold wedding baskets to the local trading posts. I learned a lot from her.

Our elders think it's really important to preserve all of our traditions -- my mom is Christian, and upset that I decided to "go heathen." Raised my kid in the old ways. Along with modern tech. Up in the Taos area the school my kid went to had mandatory Hopi language classes daily, along with Spanish and English. Outsiders always bitched about it, we all loved it.

wow cant beleive other peeps on this forum are into this stuff,
flint isnt the only rock you can make your tools out of, glass obsidian, chert quartz... all this stuff that has a chonchodial fracture are good. Myself havent actually started knapping yet, but have been studying a lot, of you want a great great series on youtube to watch, check out flintknapping begginers - allergichobbit,,,,
i am more into bows and weapons like that, but its cool how other stoners have the same thoughts!!!!

I'm getting my tinfoil helmet on now.lol I did find lots of videos on youtub about Knapping. There is also a shop in the pike place market that has obsidian knifes. I'll have to go in there and see where or how makes them.
I picked up several lbs of obsidian and a vice round rock to hammer with. I also went to a pet store and picked a couple pieces of antler.
The pet store had pigs ears for your dog to chew on gross.
