Flip the plant then Flip the lights

Hello all.Im new to this forum.
Iv been growing for a few years and I always let my plants get to 2foot before I flip the lights, they usually end up about 4foot with nice colas but lot of lower popcorn buds.I want to increase yield and maximise these lower bud sites so I had decided to do a scrog but I have another plan and would like some advice as I cant find any information about it.
I will grow my plants as usual to 2foot and the I will flip the pot on its side so I have an instant horizontal grow. I will tape up the top opening and water through a previously cut side opening(which will now be the new top). I hope that after the initial shock, the plant will recover and the leaves and bud sites will turn at 90degrees and grow towards the light. Then i will flip to 12/12 and i should have a fairly even canopy.
The rooting system will now be horizontal so Im wondering will the plant adapt to this.
I will be growing white widow which is a hardy plant.
Should I top the main cola into 2 to spread the growth around.
Is this a crazy idea?....if it works it will save a lot of scrog work.

Wouldn't all those lower bud sites still be popcorn if you veg them normally and only put them horizontal when you start flowering? I would think it would be more beneficial to tie the stem down horizontally when they're still young, soft and bendable, which would give all those lower sites more of a chance to catch up before flowering. I could be wrong, but that makes more sense to me.

the amount of light a bud gets in the flowering period determines the size of the bud so these lower buds will get the same amount of light as the top cola...it will be an even canopy..
.i can try it out and if the plant doesnt recover i can easily stand it back upright again

The idea of a scrog is to force branches out horizontally making the lower branch nodes grow
vertically. If I understand what you are planning, then you are still growing a plant vertically, just on
its side.

I understand when you flip the pot over the plant will be horizontal but none of the lower branch
nodes will be growing vertical as the plant will still focus growth energy to the apex tip.

Edit: The best way I've found to scrog is to top at 4-6 nodes and begin training
horizontal immediately. This will ensure a ton of branching then just select the strongest
and cull the rest.

I am thinking that the lower branch nodes will turn to the light and start to grow vertical and as soon as they do i can start the flowering period

IME when a branch or plant is bent, tied, or pinched over, the first part to go vertical is the apex tip.

Are you not using a screen? When you flip the plant back over without any tying or bending, you will just end up with a vertical plant with a big "wow" bend in its stem.

Similar to this which is an untopped plant LST'ed

thats a beautiful picture :)
My seeds are germinating at the moment so im a few weeks away from trying this.
when i turn the plant on its side i believe every leaf and growing tip will turn and grow vertical thus giving me a mature plant with an even canopy..if any of the stronger branches grow too much in can easily tie them down...im gonna have to try this now

That was done with LST during veg which allowed the lower branches to get vertical
before the flip.

Still topping and scrogging will produce better results
