Flipped to flower too late on scrog

Hi. Long time outdoor, first time indoor grower here. Beyond happy I made the switch. So much easier than fighting the weather every day.

Things have been going ridiculously well, too well in fact. My plants vegged so fast that I wasn't really on top of it and made the rookie error of switching to flower 1-2 weeks late.

It's a long-streching hybrid -- Sensei NL #5 x Haze, and there's probably 2-3 weeks of stretch left and I will likely fill up the screen in just a week.

Do I let it go up at that point or trim or what? It's already pretty dense in there.

Can u raise ur light setup? I think u could get away with it

Thanks for the quick response.

I can raise the lights to a total of 4.5' from scrog to light. The lights stay about 1.5' above tops, so that's only about 3' of available vertical space, maybe as much as 40". I've grown this strain before, and it stretches pretty long. I know if I raise the night temps a bit, this will slow the stench a little, but probably not enough to save me.

My fear is that if I let it go up, I may wind up burning the tops

Looking good so far and keep tucking the branches until the screen is full then let them go up. I would suggest to put another screen 10 or 12 inches higher. Once they have reached the second screen it will help support the buds later on when they put on the weight. Also with the second screen if they are a foot or more above the second screen and start burning or bleaching you could bend the cola at the second screen and lay it on the screen. I have had to bend the colas from hitting the lights or from burning.

That sounds like a good idea on the second screen, but space is tight it there and I'm not sure how I would do it in the middle of a grow. I will think about it, but it may need to wait until the next crop. The stems on the plants are growing very vigorously, so I'm not too concerned with support

So I guess I'll just let it go until the screen is full and then let it grow up. Will try to get a second screen in there.

I know what you mean it can be a pita to make changes in the middle of a grow. I can't shut down the flower room but have to make upgrades it becomes a different challenge in itself.

Now that I'm thinking about it, the tops of my scrog legs are PVC electrical conduit that are open at the top. I can make a new screen with short legs and the tapered side of the PVC at the bottom, so it should slide right in to the tops of the legs on the existing screen.

How close to the cobs before burning becomes an issue?
I run bare emitters at 50 watts/ft and had the lights real close last 2 runs without any burns. Average 8" away.
My only issue probably was the plants were low and squat by the overload of light.

Veg 24"-36" flower 12"-18" of course you can go closer just watch out for bleaching or burning
the amount of light can give tighter node spacing what strains were they and how long in veg.

I keep them at about 18"

Because there's so little heat coming off them, I started at 14", got some bleaching, and eventually going up to 18" for veg. Should I raise up the next crop for veg?

Each room and light will be different if you are 18" from the canopy in veg and it's not bleaching or burning the tops then I dont see why you should raise it. The numbers I gave are a general starting point you can go up or down from there depending what you are trying to do.

Almost full, but it's much slower growing than last week. I may even make it to the end of the stretch, or close enough. It's lights-out right now, but will take pics this evening when the lights come on.

Can't get over how much easier and faster this is than outdoor. Worth every penny in investment

The growth slowed down enough that I was able to fill the scrog before letting them go up! Gotta say again, love indoor growing.
