hey everyone, i'm planning on doing a hydroponic flood and drain grow fairly soon. i bought a timer for my water pump and realized after buying that the minimum amount of time the timer can be on for is 30 minutes. is it harmful to the plants if the tray is flooded for 30 minutes at a time? any advice is appreciated!

I am sure other with more experience will chime in here as well. The bucket system I am running is on for 15 min four times a day in veg. Plants are loving it. I plan to switch to six fifteen minute cycles once I start flowering. If your water has a big air pump you may be just fine. Buy, a different timer might run you only twenty bucks. Better safe than sorry.

Run 15 min 30 is pushing it and you are just asking fr trouble. A lot depends on your medium and how often you flood so be careful and watch your plants for over water issues.

Assuming you're using hydroton, a 30 minute flood cycle will be okay.
Not ideal, but a 30 minute flood cycle won't kill your plants.

You're fine for now. Whenever you get 20 dollars, it might not hurt to go buy a timer with 15 minute intervals, though.

You should never wet roots when lights are off , you are just asking for trouble.
