Cyanobacteria found living 600 meters underground without sunlight. A team of researchers from Spain, Germany and the U.S. has found a type of cyanobacteria that is capable of living more than 600 meters underground—in the absence of sunlight.

Cyanobacteria may be unicellular or filamentous. ... Most cyanobacteria do not grow in the absence of light (i.e., they are obligate phototrophs); however, some can grow in the dark if there is a sufficient supply of glucose to act as a carbon and energy source

No I get that

But you said you don't cover it up, the rezz
I'm suggesting you do, eliminate the light. Yes it grows in dark,but most all Algie's or Canabacteria will thrive with light

Just saying I'd eliminate that aspect in the rezz

oh ya i 100% cover it but im saying some light might be leaking through from the holes i made for the pipes. as in its not 100% leak proof.

Seems like the root problem is likely the temps getting up to 80 degrees. For a couple of summers, I kept frozen 2 liter pop bottles around to swap into the res when the last one was thawed. This was a cheap way to keep temps more in check.

I live on the surface of the sun. Ambient room temps are 76-79f all summer, 115+ outside

I've never cooled my Rez, and besides the one issue with a yellow lid on my dwc tub,I've never had issues

Sure a cool Rez is ideal,but not necessarily a must

that's what i mentioned as well: the dude that turned me on to southern ag ran cukes in a dwc in AZ in the summer.

It will likely only hold for 2-3 days and then you redose it. I usually redosed twice a week, about every 3-4 days, just depending on when I thought about it. After I went to a sterile res I never had an issue again.

I only had to try to keep mine cool at one grow location one summer. Every other spot I've grown at it wasn't an issue. That room ran on the hot side though, it was before I had anything other then air exchange for cooling. Honestly pulled some of my highest yields from that room, but I mostly account that to the genetics I was running at the time.
