Flood and drain setup

hey guys, im looking into setting up a flood and drain system.

im having a hard time finding a good link to get info off of.

anyone have any good resorces on building a flood and drain?

I use flood tables with rockwool blocks. No hydroton.

Hey Don thanks alot bro. Im going the cheap way. All i want to set it up is for a 5x5x7 foot hydro tent in my basement.

i have a 4 foot x 4 foot res tray im going to use as my table. its like 10 -12 inches deep.

what i need most help on. is how to set up the flood drain fitting. where i want my waterlevel to sit at and all that stuff.

im curious. do you put the drain for the table as low as it can go. ( IE hole in table) because if its any higher than that wouldnt the bottom of the pots be sitting in water. and get root rot

I have 2 pieces for my drain and 1 to fill the tray for me 2 for my drain fills up my tray till it fills up to the top of the medium I have hydroton. What you use? Do not put it as low as it go becase water cant reach all the roots. What esle you have to buy because some cheap shit dosent make you grow well or will cause problems?

ok. but if you put the drain at the top of the medium. when the pump turns off. wolnt there be like 6-7 inches of water left behind? as the drain is at the top. this is the biggest problem im facing seting this up. i really just dont understand how this is supposted to work.
and i use hydroten as well.

When the pump shuts off, the water drains back down though the pump. The drain is just an overflow preventer allowing the water to reach a desired level. I set mine about 3 inches from the top of my hydroton. And put screens over them so they dont clog.

You can do it a few different ways, I've seen the method of having a larger pump/piping supplying the water than the drain hole at the lowest section of the table and you put a secondary drain hole as large as the pump's up to how high you want the water to get. It's kind of like a sink where you give it more water than the drain can handle, but it has those holes at the top to drain off to prevent flooding the house
