Flood and Drain Table Size?

I'm gonna try hydro for the first time early next year. I've decided on a DIY Flood and Drain system. I plan to grow 2-3 plants at a time in a SCROG setup.

What size flood table should I go with for 2-3 plants? I know a 3x3 table would work, but would a 2x2 work as well?

Decide how big your scrog screen is gunna be, then determine how you want the plants to be placed under the screen (use empty pots inside a taped square on the floor if you want a good visual). Once you know how you want your plants spaced, simply measure and see what size tray you need. Easy peasy.

My SCROG screen will be 28" x 28", because that's the core footprint size of my light when it's a foot above the plants. That puts me in about the mid-range of a 2x2 and a 3x3 table.

If I could find a 2.5 x 2.5 table, it would be great. But I don't think anybody makes one, and I don't want to make one myself.

I am using a DIY quasi-flood table ( ~2 X 4ft). I find watering from the top better than flooding as rarely does the nutrient properly water the top 2".

Also flood media tends to hold water too long, with high possibility of algae, and it's often impossible to move plants in/out, around...

I grew 3 plants, but the middle one canopy dwarfed the other two. It alone is ~ 2 x 4

This pic is my first attempt so everything is loose. Next grow the tubing will be properly attached to tent frame

Did you not look at the picture?

The tray is an upside down tote lid.

hole drilled for drain back to rez

Everything that is assembled only requires MINOR drilling

I think for what you want - 28"x28" canopy, a 2x2 should work fine. the canopy will obviously spread out as it grows up. pre made tables are usually sturdier and drain better than diy ones imo.

How can you get enough depth of flood with your system?

...and WW, I say go with a 3x3 in case you want to expand in the future.

Look into concrete mixing tubs from a hardware store, they are cheap and if you look at the different options some of them are very ideal for ebb n flow

Simple, I feed from the top into a combination of polished ornamental river rock (Dollar Store) + a bottom layer of lava rock, which helps to anchor the toots + stays moist between feed cycles. Because this is fast draining, I feed every ~ 0.5- 1 hour during lights on
