Who: Howdy fam! Been lurking on this forum for over a decade. This is my first thread, but you can find me on Instagram ( @Liberty_Hoonigan ) for more photos and information about my grow.
What: I'm starting this thread to document my experience with a product that is new to me. The pot pro system by Floraflex was designed in collaboration with Char Coir (personal opinion follows) to compete directly with Grodan for their large commercial grower market share.
Why: I started with hand watering 3 gal smart pots of coco coir. I love coco as a substrate. I noticed I didn't need the volume, so for the last few runs, I've been using 1 gal nursery pots with excellent results. Then I saw some insane rootballs out of these little 6x6x6 pots and even 6" rockwool cubes. Since I use floraflex manifolds to automate flower waterings, why not try these?
How: Let's start with what strain we will be using for trials; 818 Headband from The Cali Connection. I've been growing my cut of this strain for close to 2 years and know her pretty well. I have 18 clones rooted in a DIY aeroponics cloner, thanks stinkbud! For the substrate, I will be using the Char Coir cubes made for this system. Young plants will be hand watered on a 2x4 tray in a 4x4x7.5 foot Gorilla tent for about 4 weeks of vegetative growth under 120w DIY HLG quantum board LED lighting. The same 18 plants will then get moved to a 3x6 foot tray in the flower room for 8-9 weeks of blooming under two 600w air cooled HPS lights. Flower will be the most interesting part as I have it automated already with other floraflex bits. Dry down times will be interesting to note. It should be said that unless you have a lot of time to tend to your garden, I personally wouldn't recommend smaller pots without automation.
Misc: My veg tent is full, so clones will be stuck in the cloner for another week before I have the room to start this experiment. Has anyone else used these? Is anyone else interested? Follow along either way for some fun and learning!
