Floranova nutes questions

I'm using floranova nutes, veg, bloom, the root stuff, floralicious, etc. I always hear people say use half or even 1/4 of what the label says. The local hydro store where I bought my nutes told me just to follow the drain to waste simple chart and I will have good results. I know he grows but I just wanted to know others opinions

Does that guy make more money if he sells to you more often?hmmmmmm.

But on the real, most strains (and even different plants of the same strain) like most people like more or less "food" than others. It's safer to go with lower amounts to start and see how the plant reacts, you can always add more next time if the plant wants it, read up on nute burn and what the symptoms of underfeeding look like. Watch for these signs and correct accordingly, it sounds harder than it is and you'll have it down in no time! Also be very careful not to overwater your young plants, the symptoms can look very similar to burn and cause you to panic and flush adding to the problem, sorry I'm rambling, those cookies are kicking in! Happy growing

I used to use Floranova Bloom Lucas formula with great results. Recently I have been using the Flora 3 part series and I have followed the simple drain to waste chart at full strength. I run a mix of FFOF and Happy Frog with extra perlite and have not run into any burning or nutrient lock out. I always PH to 6.2ish and water to a light runoff. I don't use anything in addition to the 3 part in veg unless I see the need for Cal or Mag, and occasionally some Protekt after transplant. I do use a bloom booster in flower, but still follow the Flora chart at full strength.

Good stuff in my opinion, and I used to be a hard headed organics only guy when I started. Lol, simplicity goes a long way. Cheers!

Cool, I did start out light this round. Growing in promix hp, fed very light feeding. My water was 120 ppm, after I added the nutes it was around 300. Very light feeding. I think 1/4 tsp per gallon. No signs of burn

I use floranova 1 part veg and bloom. Great stuff and super concentrated. I hand water coco 2x a day. i use ro water with 4-5 cc / gallon. 1/2 cc ph up and it consistently makes the same numbers. 7-800 ppm at 5.8 ph. I drain to waste into a 5 gal bucket and recycle what's in the bottom. Mostly the ppm will be stronger in the bucket with ph about 6.2. Use ro water to cut it back to 6-700 ppm and a few drops of acid and it's good to go at 5.8. It's great for the end of the week being able to stock a few extra gallons and flush a gallon through each plant. It works well with tap to. Hard to keep clean tho. Great stuff hang with it

In my experience using the recommended doses of gh you might as well put a fucking blow torch to your plants. I do like the nova though just measure it out with a ec meter and then you'll know where you want to be

The guy at the hydro store told you correct;-)

5ml/gal is what I do, nothing else. Ends up around 1.7-1.8 EC.
You can totally do without that other shit on the chart though.

I have some plants that like the recommended dosage or higher and some that can't take over 1.2 ec . So as suggested earlier start a little low and let the plants tell you what they need.

To be fair I have never actually even read the recommended dosage on nova but many years ago I got the 3 part series and followed the directions on that and it gave me an ec around 8. In fairness the natural metal in my water probably accounted for .1 of that

You're meter is using .7 conversion factor.
I have no problem with people using PPM as long as they include their conversion factors.
