Florida's First Black Medical Marijuana License Recipient Will Have to Pay for the Privilege

Last week, five years after Floridians voted to legalize medical marijuana in 2016, state officials announced an "emergency rule" that sets aside one medical marijuana license specifically for a Black farmer.

Only one licience is open for "A" Black farmer, and it will cost them mucho Amerio's

For nearly five years, eligible Black farmers in Florida waited for the state to announce the application process for the Pigford Class — only to learn last week that will cost them $146,000 apiece to throw their hat into the ring.

As Fried pointed out on social media, that sum is more than twice the approximately $60,000 the initial round of applicants paid to vie for the 22 original licenses, according to attorney Dustin Robinson, founder of the Fort Lauderdale-based firm Mr. Cannabis Law.

State officials have not yet set a date for the process to get underway.

that's nothing..in Colorado you have to have DL or ID FOR EVERYTHING however, the requirements are often fluid and vague. just when you think you've gotten it all together and waited your three month appointment only to find they've changed rules again.

so far i can't get Colorado DL, Colorado ID, Colorado Med Card (with first time waiver for out of state drivers license) i'm applying for my Colorado Sales Tax Rebate that they do yearly for $67 refund..called to make certain i had what was required and it was returned..Mother Fvcker! now i have to walk it over there because people are stupid or it's a training opportunity depending on how you look at it.

oh! then they have that jelly bean jar at the end of the counter if all else fails and you somehow have the documents required.

requiring an ID is and always was a poll tax. my valid lease and valid voters registration both have my current address.

did i mention this is an in person visit in which to show them the error of their ways?

How so? I know states are messing around, and the insurrectionist RINO's in DC are still bending a knee to Trump, but after 2018 and 2020 I would think it is more sliding away from how close we came in 2016.
you remember that story i told about my neighbor who went dark at the mere mention of Afghanistan?

we've got trouble way worse than we can imagine..the division enormous; peoples body language on the street is that of defensiveness..out and about but almost ready for gunfire.

Wait. So after reading the article it says 23 licenses with one being set aside specifically for a black farmer. What are the races of the 22 other recipients? If it was open for any race to apply, then technically they protected an additional space for a black farmer

It also says an additional 16 will be issued

I’d like to know when/how the price increase happened and if it’s going to remain the same for the additional 16 or it’s specifically higher for those applicants within the Pigford class; as thats the most blaring WTF about this after reading everything. That’s gonna wind up in court

not what it said but I'm sure you know that.

The summary statement:

"Black farmers should have the same access to these licenses as the other 22 license holders that Florida has previously approved,” she says in a news release criticizing the new application process. “I hope the Florida Department of Health will immediately revise this discriminatory rule and ensure equity for all license applicants.”
