Flourescent Sunrise: A CFL / HPS Adventure

Todays Overview

• A. NUTRIENTS USED - None today
• B. PH - 6.0
• C. MEDIUM - B'cuzz hydromix hp
• D. TEMPERATURE - 89(hot day.. maybe problem)
• E. LIGHT CYCLE - VEG (18/6)
• F. WATERING - None today
• G. GROWTH NOTES - I am pushing 90 degrees.. tried to move around the fans and put one in front of the intake but no help.. so i went and got come dry ice to see if it would help with the heat .. it hasnt really affected the temp but im sure the extra co2 is helping them stick in there... funny, seems like they arent the least bit phased by the high temps.. im sure the yield will be affected tho if i do not fix this problem before flowering.. im probably going to go ahead and spend more freakin money on an AC.. how much a month will that cost to run? well see.. .

i have a high velocity fan sitting on top of a foam cooler.. the cooler is cracked open a lil bit to let out the CO2 produced by the dry ice.. the circulation fan then blows the gas through the leaves and voila.. co2 enrichment!

here is a shot of the Washing Machine veg chamber and the clones that i have set into VEG PHASE... the 2 in back are really growing alot faster

• D. TEMPERATURE - 89
• E. LIGHT CYCLE - **** Today i switched the timer to 12/12 ***** flowering!

• F. WATERING - None today
• G. GROWTH NOTES - ive got the temp to stay at under 90 which is pushing it but im gonna see what happens. i switched them over to flowering this morning so i have to wait to take updated pics they will be up shortly ( about 2 hours )

hey dertmegert can you help me with the clone setup? I was trying to do a set up like yours but, your way seems the simplest one I seen yet. What did you use for your set up? thanks

id be glad to help. what is it that u need help with exactly?

the setup is a 35 gallon rubbermaid container... the light is a 2ft flourescent..

u screw the light to the top of the rubbermaid.. then drill a hole in the side for the cord to go threw.. then u fill the bottom with perlite.. take some clones and put them into peat pellets... give everything a good mist - the clones, the pellets, and the perlite on the bottom... then u just open the container once a day and wave some new air in there.. u dont really have to mist the clones again if you put enough water in the perlite ( the heat from the light inside an airtight container creates a perfect humidity )

that is a very effective way to clone... the only thing that could help was (maybe) just set a humidity dome over them? only if your having humidity issues if not great cloning chamber!!!

have had no problems and no dead clones since ive made the chamber.. im more than happy with the simplicity and the results

and now.. for a much needed update.. i forgot to post pics last time so here the ones from yesterday..

• C. MEDIUM - B'cuzz hydromix hp
• D. TEMPERATURE - 87
• E. LIGHT CYCLE - Flowering ( 3 days )
• F. WATERING - None today
• G. GROWTH NOTES - looking very nice.. growing well under the hps.. im loving it.

heres a shot of them sitting after just being well fed..
( *** Note.. (especially to pinksensa) i have noticed that the tips of my growth shoots are begining to yellow as they are rapidly developing.. im pretty sure they are just lacking a little bit of nitrogen so i decided to give them a mist of my nutes/water to help them get the nutrients they need at this point.. i will most certainly not be giving them any more foliar feeding especially during the flower process.. just thought i would give it a try since i was griping at pinksensa the other day about foliar feeding and NOW my plants are looking like they need it.. alls well with them tho. theyre doing great

aww yea to the foliar feeding and I know its a no no when i flower.....when can I come play with your girls??? Ill have them all wet and loved on ready for bloom....lol

lol I just re-read your whole grow journal again...I love it!!!! Im getting anxious about this cloning surgery that Im about to do....

haha dont sweat it .. im sure youll do fine.. and your gonna love the experimenting part...

ive got a little addition before i get ready for bed.. my lights JUST came on and i decided to get a good morning video of the girls.. as you can see from the video i opened the door JUST as the light came on ( notice how the intensity of the light changes and turns from a light blue to a bright orange )

I appreciate the feedback! That rubbermaid cloning idea is a very awesome setup. I have a couple of those sitting around in my closet that I'm going to have to bust out when I get mine going here. Awesome setup!
