Just kidding!! I needed a catchy headline to get attention. A friend needs help, desperately!!
A friend of mine has a female that is in her 1 st month of flowering. She has spent her entire life growing in soil outdoors, nothing but dirt, water, food. She has been fine till moved indoors.
First I would like to describe her. She is 3 feet tall, was the runt of the litter. Has long skinny arms, more of a tree than a bush. Has large sparse leaves, skinny flowers with white hairs that have a lavender tinge.
Her Elder siblings produced amazing flowers. One had a huge "Donkey Dick" More than half of the center stalk was one giant flower. Each of the long branches was almost a complete flower from top to bottom. There was a strong "Skunky" odor in the whole yard(outdoors) Sticky to touch, covered in frosty crystals. Amazing flavor and quite phsychotic. Clear your schedule for this girl, she's gonna work you for hours!!
Back to our fledgling. After she was uprooted and replanted, she was put in a basement closet, about 75 degrees, low humidity, a pair of fluorescent light bulbs with more of the red spectrum were used (2) 48" bulbs at 18 watts each), as well as a small space heater/fan.
Again, SHE WAS DUG UP FROM HER NATURAL OUTDOOR LOCATION, dropped right into some Miracle grow potting soil in a big pot, and watered (may not have been watered enough) Some of the roots may also have been damaged when excavating her.
Also, as soon as she was re-planted/moved, and put under fluorescent lights, she was pruned using dull snips, (just the big leaves extending from the flowers.)
Also, Winter months have shortened days here in North Florida. She's used to the winter clock, minimal hours of sunlight. My friend changed that at once. (much longer light duration under fluorescents, about 18 hours)
Also, the first night, (mind you, she was uprooted from her natural outdoor location, put in a pot, put indoors, underwatered, had a heatfan on her, and 18 hours of fluorescent light (the type with the red end of the spectrum)
That morning, we weren't surprised to see the leaves drooping. What can we do to save her?
Also, one other thing. She is about 3 feet tall, very spindly. Prior to this whole incident, she was pretty healthy but showing red stripes down her main trunk, and some of the leaves had been yellowing . The beginning stages of her life were also very rough, she almost died a few times, lack of nutrients and sunlight. Her 2 sisters grew much faster and bigger, yielded flowers much quicker.
She bounced back from her early illness and did fine outdoors. She was the runt of the litter, but she's a fighter, has survived the worst.
Since she was moved and put under such extreme change all at once, this morning it was noticed that she had begun to wilt. She hasn't dried out yet, yesterday night she was fine, that was until she was moved, cut, and exposed to a whole new medium(potting soil) new location and new light conditions as well as duration of lighting. This morning, her leaves were drooping.
One other thing. When my friend brought her home, it was 11PM. So she had just seen a 12 hour day of sunlight(mostly indirect) So from 6PM till 11:50PM she sat in the dark.At 11PM she was uprooted, replanted, watered lightly (perhaps not enough) put under red spectrum fluorescent lights, had a heat fan blowing hot air at her and stayed at her new home indoors in a closet from 11:55PM last night till 7pm today.
The heater was left on overnight last night. In the morning, it was noticed that the soil was dry and the leaves were drooping. The heat was shut off immediately, (I think the heat may have caused the drooping) the fan however was left on her.
It was noticed this evening that the leaves are still drooping and the soil was very dry and some of the roots were exposed. That was remedied, roots gently covered, watered very thoroughly, plant has been misted repeatedly.
I know this all sounds a bit confusing, sorry for the lack of structure with my explanation of events. This is the way it was explained by my friend to me.
Anyone willing to help, I will explain it better, start to finish.
What to do?? I know nothing about any of this, my friend obviously knows nothing, he needs all the help he can get.
Is there a number that a trusted experienced Professional can be reached? This to explain this whole mess to over the phone and save this Beautiful girl. PM me with the info please!!
