Its really up to you what you have to take into consideration is the size of your pot,
and the height of your room I wouldn't feel comfortable flowering any later then when it hits 3.5 -4ft max with
container.Remember the bigger the plant the more nutes and space needed for roots to grow.

I'm on my first run but I asked a similar question, 2'6" finished height was what I was told could be supported by one 6" Rock Wool cube.
My tent is the same dimensions as yours, I am using a 400 as well.

Your plant will probably at least double in height during flowering. You will need a decent amount of space between the light and the top of the plant to prevent the top from burning. You have 6 feet total to work with. I don't know your setup but for most, the bottom foot is occupied by the pot, the top 1.5 feet is occupied by the light hood and the buffer zone you need between the plant and the light. That leaves you 3.5 feet of plant space. If the plant doubles its height during flower you would need the plant to be less than 1.75 feet at the time you flower. This is all hypothetical but these are some factors you should consider. Also the light penetration of a 400w isn't great, so it would be best to keep your plant short and bushy. Good luck.

I go 16 inches before flower with some lst and topping done early on.... They end up 30-40 inches finished.... Edit: I also trim up the bottom 12" so all the growth is in the 2 ft range easily penetrable big buds not much bull shit.

Its all bout light penetrating the canopy. 400 watt gives you bout close to 2 ft of light penetration. Like its been mentioned try lst. Just aim to keep a even canopy that's well lit.

Yeah try some lst to fill in as much horizontal space as you can. You don't want to waste to much vertical space if your not getting the penetration.

heres where I'm at currently day 5 12/12. Running a 400w hps
