flowering light cycle question.

hi im new to the forum, i have done few natural outdoor grows. but this is a indoor question a friend and i were having a debate about. i know that 12/12 starts the sexing and is used during the flowering stage but this friend said once he knew he had a female, he kept lights on it almost 24 hours a day and ended up with a cola the size of a soccer ball. im trying to figure out if this was b.s., plain luck, or just illogical and would mess with the plants natural growing after it had been given the 12/12 light treatment and cause it to hermie or something. anyone heard of such a thing? i mean once its a female and you give it a lot of light, could it help it grow big? i thought light changes and other unnatural changes and shocks caused hermies and other unwanted results.

thanks for your input:blsmoke::clap:

tMost of what people say is bs but in this case it is possible he was telling a partial truth.

Many strains will go into flower production once they reach peak sexual maturity no matter what light cycle they are on.

Ive had Top 44 Skunk mother plants go into full bud production after about a year or a few months longer of life,the clones taken from those mothers were very slow rooting & had a high failure rate compared to my normal success rate.

Sexual maturity plays a large role in the speed of flowering as well as a few other factors so id say what he said is not impossible.

well if you take it out of the 12/12 cycle and put it back into a vegetative cycle then it will stop producing buds and start growing again. so yeah, i would say bullshit. i have heard that when you re-veg the plant it will branch out like crazy but as far as buds growing bigger....NO WAY.

You should keep them on schedule.The last two weeks of flower you can up the hrs of light without effecting them.I live in a legal state have seen blue ribbin buds.Never the size of a soccer ball.Call BULL SHIT

yea it sounded crazy and i wouldn't want to risk the hard work put into a grow and trying something new like that. just wanted other opinions on the matter.

As far as i know the plant needs the 12/12 lighting....if you keep the light on for 24h then the plant will stop buding.The only exception i can think of, is an auto...!Those plants dont need 12/12 lighting.about the soccerball.....i would say BS.

yeah, unless he sexed it then re-vegged to grow more and bigger colas, that's bs. but even if he did, it would get that big. mighta grown really high though. but itll need at least a 12/12 cycle unless its an autostrain
