Flowering Light Cycle

hey all,



About to flip my baby into flower, and I’m debating a few things:

Firstly; should I leave her in the dark for 24 hours prior to switching over from 18/6?

I have read a couple threads here and am leaning more towards trying it out, and snagging a far red light as well to set up on Monday when I do kick the lights back on.

Second; Other than 12/12 are there other common cycles that you use and if so, why?

If this is redundant or a topic covered frequently here can anyone provide me with links to threads or other data? Thanks everyone, super excited for the switch, and I’m thinking I’m gonna start a journal since I have clones rooting and have all the makings for the perfect start to a perpetual garden!

Whenever your lights shut off from the 18/6 just set your timer to kick back on 12 hours later, then off 12.. No reason to leave them in the dark for 24 hours. And no reason to do anything other than 12 and 12

I was going to reply, however this guy hit the nail on the head.

I've heard some people running 11/13.. Not sure their reasoning behind it.

A lot of growers and even some breeders believe that a shorter light on period and longer dark causes the plant to transition into flower quicker and finish faster thinking that the season is changing.

This method is also used to hasten long flowering Sativas in flower

Saves on elelctricity. No diff in yield... finishes a bit faster.

Thats all.

No difference in yield? Then that should be the standard. Finishes faster all good reasons. If you save and get the same yield do that. I think experience will get the best results. People have to experiment for themselves and find what works for their plants.
