So I have multiple strains growing and some of them will flower earlier than the others.

How do I know when to start flushing since I wont be able to do it on a time basis...

if your hydro then you can't.. alll you can do is let the early birds run to the end with the other strains.. then flush

It's in soil.

i have three large plants and one small one and I set them all to flower. The small one has a much shorter flowering time (41 ish days...)

but i'm wondering how do I know when to flush based on physical characteristics?

then you don't have a problem then. a week b4 you chope start just useing plain old water instead of feeding them, thats all you have to do.. easy as eating apple pie.
when the trycs are at your desire then start the flush prosses.

How do i know when they are ready? One of my strains flowers in 45 days for example...but what physical traits do i look for?

When the trichomes are starting to turn amber? before?

technically you could keep the light settings on 18/6 and veg them until theyre as big as you want, thats up to you. and yes when the trichomes turn amber is about the right time, just flush with regular water for a week

dont flush its all bullshit , ive never flushed and my weed turns out fine ..its all about how u go drying / curing it IMO + why would u deny your plant from food right when the buds could swell even more ?

if your growing in a large enought pot then you would be ok. soild ,dirt acts as a buffer.
