Flowers are too heavy

Hi all! This is my first grow so I don't know what to expect. Is it normal that my stems can't hold the weight of the flowers on some plants? I added a pic of what I believe to be a Bruce Banner plant and I keep trying to tie her to keep her in the sweet spot of the LEDs but she is pretty dense and I feel like I'm crowding her and still I have colas laying sideways. Advice please!!!

Yep pretty typical.. they do get top heavy for sure... just give more support... Looks great!!

Thank you so much! Its stressing me out. I keep crowding the rest of the plant trying to get the front ones up the back and middle are being held up by the wall and other branches but tying up the fronts seems to be squishing everything together too close. Is there something I can do different in the future?

yes, pinch the stems during vege, the stress causes the stems to "solidify" as well as thicken up.
same concept as bones healing back stronger.
or wind making it stronger
don't do this within two weeks of flowering.
also works great to "slow" down a cola that may be growing faster than it's twin.

You need to check out scrog growing. You let your plants grow up thru a screen or net that is anchored.. keep s the buds separated in their own space.. good luck!

another option is use a high wattage MH for the vege time.
CO2 also helps.

Some fencing wire can come in handy for times like this when you didn't plan your screen when you should have. Been there done that... lol :bigjoint:

Any sort of wire wrapped around your pots I have found gives you a lot more to tie down to. And provides the extra support where it's needed. I used some old stock/cattle fencing wire I had laying around. Worked quite well actually. Good luck!

some strains don't mind "super-cropping" throughout the early onset of flowering even as far deep as 14-21 days until the end of the stretch, some might herm, ymmv. It has shown ime that super-cropping can slow and limit overall stretch, somewhat, and definitely causes the stems to swell up and a plant that might not have been able to support itself without, might just be able to with some strategic super-cropping.

I think I might have like 3 weeks to go with her but I don't know enough about what I'm doing to mess with her too much now. I'll know for future but for now I guess I'll just keep propping her up the best I can. Thanks everyone! This Forum has helped me a bunch!!!

Yes. Bamboo canes and some ties. They are pretty cheap at Home Depot and probably loads of other places. Just stick the cane in the soil and tie the ties to the plant and cane.

I would not delay. I had a plant fall and almost had a heart attack. I thought she snapped at the base. Got her back up and she is fine. Yo yos to the ceiling also work but a bamboo cane is best. They have green plastic canes ones too.

Like someone said - maybe try scrogging next time.

it can be a problem if they are allowed to lay onto and touch each other, add in some minimal air movement and optimal conditions and you're livin' in mold city

Flowers look great @Tigerpaws, no offense but the stems look og lanky, bust them shits up all throughout veg if you like longer veg times, also try it once the super-cropping on a girl just into flower, bust her up real good bend and twist her around the first week or two, or three if you're daring (but not beyond the stretch!), you'll be surprised at what that can do to both minimize stretch and beef up the stalks.

You're in bamboo land right now, get you some sticks.

I have a fan blowing across the tops and one on the floor aimed up underneath and humidity at 55%. I hope this is enough! Mold would suck! Do you think I should go down on the humidity?

I've found that using silica ( I use Armour Si) throughout the grow really helps make my stems sturdier. It also cuts down on heat stress and makes them less vulnerable to bugs.

Being aware is being leaps ahead of the game, keep the air moving and your humidity is probably fine. Just keep it moving with nothing sitting around stagnant. When they lie on each other they get "bed sores" really just water pooled up, and from those rot can form or other nasties.

Thanks for the advice! Every night I'm in there trying something different and moving her around trying to give her room to breath. Im trying to be gentle but she's just loaded. She's my first so I hope nothing goes wrong. Im just hoping she gets ripe soon. Pic was taken on the 15th
