fluorescent lights or led?

Floros/CFLs

PROS-

-Cheap to run
-Cheap to buy
-Easy to swap out spectrums in accordance to cycle of growth
-Self ballasted
-Readily available
-Last long

CONS
-Many are needed
-Sometimes need to rearrange daily
-Can be awkward
-Low(er) yield
-Poor penetration (giggity)

LEDs

PROS

-Low cost to run
-Small
-Little heat
-Low lasting
-Last long

CONS

-Fucking expensive!
-Gotta pay to play, knockoffs wont cut it.
-Some claim poor yields, some claim normal/large. Point being, there is still a lot of debate over LED's.

be sure to check into t8s as well aas t5s. I use t8s for veg and have had great success. Dollar per lume over a five year period t8s had the best numbers. Home depot has a kick ass 6 bulb t8 for 80 bucks. good luck

HPS lights are more expensive too. you wont necessarily get a higher yield just because your using hps lights. you have to have the proper reflective hood, as with any lights, and have to watch more closely about how far away from your canopy it is so hot spots are not created. also, since the do produce more heat, you will have to pay closer attention to air circulation and ventilation, temperature, and also power consumption. iv had 16 indoor crops and iv never used anything other than floros. iv got 12 ladies, all clones of course, under 4 double 4ft white light floros. on average i get about 26-40g per plant. but i only harvest twice a year.

Okay so If someone wanted to have a small three or five plant grow what would be the best set up in your opinion? I am thinking led has the best advantages such as energy prices and lack of heat, what size led light would be ideal for this? any idea on the price tag?
has anyone had a good experience with leds?
