Flushing: really necessary??

Science says Flushing is a myth.
Just reduce the food the last 2 weeks of flowering to around 40% of what it was a max dose.
Also the plant uses Magnesium Sulfate/Sulfur in the last stages is also critical to help produce Terpenes.
Main thing is to reduce all nutrients in the last stage, but not totally eliminate.
Also Magnesium Sulfate is not stored in the cells for long, and must be constantly replaced. Like B Vitamins. Theyre water soluble, and are quickly depleted. The plant still need nutrients to continue metabolic processes up until the end.
In heavy duty, long flowering Sativas, I would also use a 13/11 light schedule the last 2-3 weeks

You want advice from people that have done both. You’ve got it from a few and I’ll add mine.
I’ve grown 1000+ plants since I started growing in ‘05 and have done side by side flushing vs not flushing tests with identical clones grown under identical conditions. I’ve also done research on plant growth and botany outside of cannabis based literature to get real science and not hippy lore like many cannabis grow books provide.
I don’t flush. It serves no benefit to the plant or grow process. I get raves reviews from everyone that try’s my buds or even smells them coming

I myself have been growing weed since 1972. I got the first HID available in 1977-78. It was a bulb used by the Navy/Submarine and was really fragile, and they wouldnt warrant it for shipping. Several months later the Super Nova, and was very durable vs shipping.
Id say I have several hundred successful grows counting what Ive done myself, and with others. Both inside, and out.

Thank you for a clear and consice answer! I think I'll run a little trial of my own and flush a couple of the plants but just decrease quantities on the rest. Because myplants are outdoors, and struggling for sunlight this time of year, the buds haven't reached the ideal size/density so flushing would mean even more limited growth in the final 1/ 2 weeks which I can't really afford to risk so your reply has put my worries at ease. This is your best option!
There will never be a actual answer to this question until the plant is taken off the schedule one list and can be studied at the national level, IMO
This topic can get very hateful, along with HID vs LED.

I know you were asking a legit question, but I will say that the search feature is your friend. If you have a question there is a good chance that it has been asked and answered before. Besides if your plants cannibalising its having to use energy to reassimilate and relocate nutrients.
