Flushing Salts

Hi all
I am 29 (out of 50-55) days into flowering in a drip system with hydroton. I am using GH 3 part. My plants are not exhibiting and abnormal behavior, but I was curious if I need to flush with ph'd water half way through budding or so to remove salt build up??
Any thoughts, opinions, and rude comments are much appreciated.

you should flush hydro 2 or 3 times right when you switch to flowering, if you see any ick build up, and after your finished with your feed shcedule. use florakleen its a gh product

Yeah, no need to flush til the last two weeks of flowering. only flush before that if you're exhibiting nute burn, and in that case use plain water. When it comes to end of harvest flush I suggest final flush from grotek (Canadian company.

i flush alot, but thats me.. i also never have any root issues or nute burn or salt buildup. i run fresh water through every time i change the res, which is once a week, i dump it, wash it, rinse the whle system, dump it, and then add new nutes.

Do you use FloraKleen? When I put in my initial order of nutes I picked up a gallon but wasn't sure if it was really nessesary as most people seem to use hydrogen (H2O2) to flush thier reservoirs. Is florakleen a glorified H2O2 or something else?

Anyone else use this product?\

I disagree with everyone and so does green house seeds if you watch their videos. Flush once a week with ph'd water to remove salt build ups, this is especially important in hydroton as much of the medium dries out after every feed, building up salts.

I don't think I've read a thread yet in which the person inquiring about this subject has done any other than just that...flush :) In the mass of articles i read each month every publication says for top end product FLUSH. So like you and many others I'm going toi flush.

im pretty sure thats exactly what it is.. but i also use clearex, as that adds sugars back to the plant.

Just so there is no confusion, this thread is not about final flushing plants. More about flushing during bloom to remove salts. That being said yes I believe in flushing a period of time just before harvest.
So many responses! Its like a forum just for mj cultivation or something.... Thanks all

If you need to flush your plants will tell you, than go ahead. Now I don't think flushing is a bad thing but it does waste water and nutrients and takes up time. You will find most small growers flush more than us guys who run larger RDWS of 100 gal and 270 gal. I change out the food every 3 weeks and don't flush just new food. IMHO

flush dont flush, everyone has a dif opinion, fuck it all this site has gone to hell and as soon as i find the others ill be long gone.. enjoy fdd and his tyranny, and enjoy the kids here who dont know wtf their doing.

You're not talking about "flushing" so much as "leaching" your medium of built up salts. Yes I would recommend this as salt toxicity can harm plants (common symptoms look like heat stress according to Cervantes). I run rockwool and on my first grow I leached my pots every rez change. I've since reduced the amount of leachings (on advice from homebrewer) to once every 2-3 weeks.

Depending on your tapwater content you can use it to leach your medium. Purchased products (clearex, etc.) work as well but it's not integral when regular tapwater will suffice.

Tapwater for me is not an option for one it is softened and if use the hose bib it has a ppm of 1900. I would be adding more salts than I normally feed so I wondered if my situation was what these products were truely intended for?
