Flushing

So I am growing in 5 gallon containers of cocoa and I flushed each container with a gallon and a half of distilled water twice over a week. Will that suffice

While I'm at it I'm also in the Midwest and it has been cold in my garage attic but I've read that the colder temperatures if not too extreme can actually help with the terpenes any input?

It was a waste of time and distilled water. The very concept of flushing goes against basic horticultural science. There is no benefit to it, in fact there have been various studies that have proven it to be counter productive. Your weed will be better if it is fed properly until harvest. Flushing is grounded in myth and bro-science.

Suffice for what? The only time you need to flush coco is if it's lower quality and contains high amounts of salt. Then you rinse it very well and then charge it with a mild nutrient solution before using it as a growing medium.

If you're flushing because you think it's going to remove anything from the flowers you're wasting your time. Also, a gallon and a half of water is not enough to flush 5 gallons of coco and remove all of the fertilizer that has accumulated in the coco.

Just feed your plants until the end tapering off the EC to a lower level as you get closer to harvest.

Sharing this study. Don't know how legit it is.

"Rx Green Technologies has undertaken a first of its kind study to determine the influence of different flushing times on the chemical profile, flavor, and combustion characteristics of Cannabis flower. "

tldr
"The results of this trial indicate that there is no benefit to flushing Cannabis flower for improved taste or consumer experience. "

The word flushing is used to describe two completely different things here.

1. Flushing with plain water the last few weeks before harvest. In fact, this may not be flushing at all, but many call feeding plain water before harvest "flushing". This particualr definition of flushing is very controversial, many recommend it, many say it's Bro science. I feed nutrients until the end and dont believe in pre harvest flushing, but thats just me.

2. Flushing the soil with twice the amount of water to soil in order to remove salt buildup or to correct PH issues. I've had lockout a few times and a good flush has helped me get back to a healthy grow. I dont like to flush, but there are times it can be very useful.
