Food Stamps For Fast Food...

Perfect! Let's use government assistance programs and let'em eat nutritionally empty, high fat/sodium/HFCS foods. That way we can get'em on insulin, cholesterol, and blood pressure meds so it helps out Big Pharma and helps with Big Agra and all the subsidies we're pushing...

Works for me!
Ever read what is in pre-packaged grub at your supermarket? I am pretty sure poor people are already chowing down on all that crap. I do not believe you can afford real food anywhere on food stamps at least not a months worth.

But what if the lobster option was cheaper than the burger option? So maybe the limit should be how much grub for ya buck/stamp you get and not what the item is. You get cheap lobster just as you get cheap tuna, hell, i used to sell tuna for £30 a kilo yet could pick up a kilo of lobster meat for £20.
a 6 oz can of tuna of tuna runs about $1 or $2 depending on brand and sales and will make you two or three sandwiches.

a small lobster will run you about $20 or so (often more) depending on location and season. it will not fill you like a few sandwiches will.

not sure where you find lobster cheaper than tuna, but please do let me know.

Where i last worked for a start. The point really being that you can get varying grades of quality of everything. You say tuna is ok, so what other criteria do you then need to a dd onto the restrictions. You can get a can of tuna for $1, i could sell a cans worth of tuna for $10. Simply saying tuna is fine lobster is not is just unviable and not sensible.

Lobster can be had for dirt cheap depending on the quality, frozen etc, tuna can sell for absolute fortunes, are you aware that a single tuna fish can fetch upto £250,000. It can get as expensive as people want to make it, but it is still tuna. It is simply not feasible in any form to attempt to control peoples diets.

The main thing I see food stamps used for around here are junkies trading them for drugs (pills).... Its a dead givaway when your in the grocery store shopping and see a clean healthy blue collar individual walking around with a full (n i mean full cart) cart and a raggady skanky looking junky tagging along with them...lol.... I see this all the time....

sure it is. start by prohibiting soda, candy, and the like. they already have restrictions in certain states, like in hawaii no frozen items on food stamps. here in oregon, no hot items on food stamps.

if it were up to me, i would try to dictate it by cost per pound for meat. lobster costs $25 or so a pound, if not more. you can get a pound of tuna for $5 or less. i wouldn't let anyone go over a certain amount.

you buy yourself a bag of rice and some potatoes, maybe some bread and you can eat for a long time for exceedingly cheap.

you make some good points, but i really want to slap around these people that i see using food stamps to buy candy and chips and mountain dew.

That's just it. If it were to be restricted it should be bang per buck, not simply the variety of food in question.

Funnily enough i was chatting with a colleague today about useless mums feeding their kids shit because it's so convenient just to open the cupboard instead of cooking somehing or even simply preparing something.

On the flip side, all the adverts on radio 1 atm are about how you can feed a kenyan child for a month for £2, make you wonder how badly the farmers and such must be treated for £2 to suply a month of food for a child. Food prices these days in supermarkets are astronimical though, i mean £1 for a pepper, wtf. Gotta find me a property with veg gardens pronto.

new york recently took soda off the items you could purchase. i agree with it. i do not think you should be able to purchase junk food with food stamps.

If the government is giving them for free? Then yeah. Take it or leave it or get a job.
i would take it, then sell it for 50 cents on the dollar, then go to the steak house and order a new york and leave a big tip. then i'd just steal shit and sell it and smoke crack the rest of the month. :)

tell me what to do. ;) :)
