For All The CFL Non-Believers ! AK48 With 85W ONLY !

What's up RIU Community ?

It's been a while since my last thread.
I just opened this new one to make a point, since I registered on this website I read a lot of posts from many many members who doubt and do not believe that a CFL could give a decent result of weed (yield and potency).

My last grow started mid-October and finished end of January, I got some AK48 seeds from Nirvana that I planted. Here are the main conditions :

- Planted in a soil/coco mix.
- I only used a 85W CFL and a reflector.
- NO NUTES from the beginning to the end.
- Small closet during the veg time (the temp was a pain in the ass).
- Cut early when the trichomes were getting cloudy (so it wouldn't be too much of a indica smoke).

I did not have the opportunity to take pictures during the whole process because it was hidden in a small closet the 2 first months and I gave it to a friend for the last weeks because I had to travel (his first grow but as you can see he took care of it like a regular).

Anyway, that was just the demonstration that I wanted to do, I got a 250W HPS too but it is waaaaaaaay too hot to use in a small room.

What was the wet and dry weight tho.

Should do your next 1 with a 125w duel spec CFL should look even better lol.

It means that he wanted more of heady high than a couch lock.

imagine what if would have done with a 600 hps..lol

Yep, he probably wants to be zinging all day & there is nothing wrong with that !! Zing in the daytime & couchlock at night. It's the only way !!

Yep. That's why I'm growing a few different strains. A different effect for each occasion.

However I don't have the final dry weight because as I explained before my friend took care of the flowering period, cutting and curing. By the time I came back he had already smoked some of his share.

Of course the genetics played a part (someone advised me the AK48 because it grows well under CFL lights) but still it is still more than decent to me because it was only 85W AND I went 12/12 from seed.

The smoke was really good, it had a fruity taste and the high was really nice. The best one I have done so far, I cant really judge it as one of the best I have ever smoked because I started smoking only 5 years ago... lol

Didnt look very dense (aka airbud). Imagine what you could do with an hid. Looked very nice for what you are working with. You must have been reading GK's book.

Actually I started with the Seemorebuds book "Buds For Less".

Yeah, not very dense. Of course an HID or HPS would have given some crazy results but I went with the 85W CFL because of the small space I started the plant.
When I move to a bigger place I only plan to use the CFLs as a backup light. I will definitely go with some HPS.

But yeah, the result with this 85W CFL is more than satisfying, especially with the bad conditions at the beginning (small space, too much heat and humidity).

sorry not trying to sound like an ass here i just find this hard to take in. my cfl grow sucked. and i had way more lights then that
but i dont want to knock you cause that looks sweet. i had over a 1000w for two plants.

By hard to take in, do you mean hard to believe ? It's ok you are free to think that my grow is false.
But what would be my interest ? It's not like I have a CFL bulbs company that I am trying to promote lol. I am still a beginner.

I did not use many CFLs, it's just a single 85W bulb that I can plug on a regular socket. The guy at the headshop told me it was better (especially with a reflector).
