Hello I was wondering if some one can he me out with my first grow. I started with seeds from a bag that I grabbed from a buddy. Everything is looking good so far but my worry is how much bigger is my baby going to grow. I don't know what kind of strain it is or if its indica or sativa. I have a limited grow area and I'm running out of space. Is there's any way of telling wether it's a sativa or indica? Also I've been vegging for 1month now and was wondering if I can switch to flowering even though I haven't seen any signs of sex. Last is it possible to grow a sativa strain in a micro-sized setup?
Peace!
P.S.
Hope to hear from you pros soon.

Is there's any way of telling wether it's a sativa or indica?Generally sativas narrow leaf, tall, slow to mature, Indicas opposite. Also I've been vegging for 1month now and was wondering if I can switch to flowering even though I haven't seen any signs of sex. Yes Last is it possible to grow a sativa strain in a micro-sized setup? That would be making it hard on yourself.

Dude, start doing some reading, I'm no pro but this is stuff you will know after your first few hours reading.

My suggestion read a book or 2 before getting yourself all confused and mislead on the internet. They are laid out in a logical order and you won't be jumping around 10 topics at once, get where you wanna be in a fraction of the time.

usually you can tell a male plant before pre-flower. The males usually grow tall and spindly, It's always a good idea to wait until they show sex.

True, after you've seen a couple dozen or hundred grow up. I've got an outdoor strain I've run for 14 years now. By week 4 I can yank the males with over 90% accuracy.

Vegging for a month!?

How tall is it now, and how much height do you have in your space?

I have to assume you only are growing under household CFLs given you said your space was extremely limited.

Pics would surely help, but I'd go to flower now and then ask questions.

fwiw, Jack Herer is the only sativa dominant strain I have any experience with that grows short and tight like an indica would. All others I've grown or have seen grown tend to reach wildly after flip.

I was always confused on this. It's considered a sativa by most people, but the seed companies often list them as primarily indica. of 7 listed on SOS 3 are supposedly mostly indica, a couple just say I/S mix, a couple say sativa dominant. Bulldog seeds even says 70 % indica. So much for the strain names meaning shit. I'm beginning to think the whole seed industry is 75% bullshit myself.

LoL...
Like Aim said also, once you've grow for a while you can spot the males before pre-flower "Usually"
It's about experience. You grow a strain long enough you know what your looking for.
The males grow different from the females. There's no myth to looking at a plant and seeing the difference in growth between plants.
I'm not saying you can spot ever male in the grow room, but once you know what your looking for it's not that hard to label a plant male or female.

Buy your seeds from, HERE... Once you've got your genetics chosen(I like TGA Subcool, Barneys Farm, Reserva Privada, TH Seeds, and DNA Genetics.), Grow them in THIS. Feed them FoxFarm Grow Big, and FoxFarm Big Bloom. That will give you a good basic idea of how to grow. After that, you can shake things up with advanced techniques, and start to build your preferences of chemicals growing methods.

As far as when to flip them... You can flip your plants to flowering whenever you want. It's generally accepted that the proper time to flip a cannabis plant to flowering is between7 and10 weeks veg.

Oh... And I never know the sex of my plants until they're about 7-10 days into flowering. If I have to know the sex beforehand, I'll sex them through cloning.(Take a clone, and flip it.)

All of this probably sounds very complicated, but IT'S NOT!!! Don't overthink it, man. It's just a weed, man.

Good luck. 8)

Ok so my next batch I will take pictures in veg and we will test this. I have seen plants I thought would be male, end up female and vice versa.

That's where growing experience, and strain comes in to play.
I've been wrong before to. it happens, it's not a 100%.
if your not sure of the sex wait till the plant show pre-flowers.

If it's a tall freak of a woman you can always bend down, supercrop, or top. Don't let stretch from lights being to far. You could always put it on 12/12 from start.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I read a report today that said 37 people had died from overdoses in Colorado. I wonder if it is true. I thought that it was impossible to overdose on something natural. What do you guys think of this true or false? Makes me think twice.
