Cant bury it so no choice but to throw them away. $8 a grow isn't a big deal, but its also another place to breed disease.

Suction cups are a good idea.

I just put a small rock in the bucket... big enough to hold down my airstone and tubing, but not big enough to pinch the tube closed. Might not be the BEST idea, but whatever. I just wash it first.

Thats funny because I was thinking the same thing.

Works fine for me mang, but I'm just using it in my nutrients bucket to aerate. I imagine it would work fine in a hydro system too. Just make sure you get a nice flat rock so it doesn't roll off on ya. (Or, with a rounder rock, tie a loose "knot" in the tubing so that it's going thru itself once, then put the rock on top of the loop that's created.)

i used to throw stones away after every grow because they always got gross and plugged up, but in the last year i developed a renewing system that works very well. i put 1/4 cup of 35% h202 in a gallon of water and let the stones soak for a couple days. they will be completely sterilized, but probably still plugged. next i use another gallon of water and approx 3 tbl spoons of advanced nutrients ph down. soak for 2 days and the stones are clean as a whistle and air flows vigorously through them once again. i know this was not what the thread asked about but thought i'd throw it out there. peace

At 2$ per stone I think it'd be cheaper(time included) to just throw them out.

1/4 cup of h2o2 is like a dollar. $16 per quart at the hydro store divided by 16(2 oz = half cup 32oz = quart)

I have done this though with my stone air stones. Like the micropore XL ones that cost 18$ a stone.

I also use something abrasive on the surface to declog the pores as you call em.

just depends on how many you're using. i pay 30 bucks per gallon for 35%. 1/4 cup will clean 30 stones if you need it to. probably not worth it to clean 2 at a time. good luck on your weight system and subsequent grows!
