my question is after reading that ffof soil can burn a seedling is if i were to use ff plant mix with some perlite what is a good mix of perlite with that in a cup before i move it to a bigger pot of ffof soil. I was mainly wondering if when i move the plant (seedling) that sprouted in ff plant mix soil into ffof soil if it will mess up the plant or will it adapt ok having new soil around where the roots are in different soil.

i heard the same thing relaxed is talking about... mixing the ffof with light warrior something like this 2 parts ocean forrest 1 part light warrior, then a little extra perlite never hurts and i always add some extra lime to my mixes, i use sunshine mix #4 with hydroponic nutes, the advantage for you is you only use strait water assuming you use large enough pots, if you feel like it toss a few handfulls of worm castings in the bottom of the pot so it wont burn seedlings

two 1.5 cubic feet of OForest and one cubic foot of light warrior should give you 27 gallons of soil A great soil to add a whole "shit" load of perlite too, lol. This is a good mix. I added a few cups of blood, bone, and kelp to this and am happy with a water only grow now. I would not add more dolomite to this. It comes heavy. Remember to mix it all then make a compost tea and soak it for a few weeks and longer to get it "cooking". This get the bacteria action going.

You could also use it straight. I use it straight from seed to harvest. I sparingly use nutes in veg. because it is so rich. I have not had any problems w/ nute burn from soil. LW has Mycorrizhae, OF does not. That is the only major difference between these two mediums. Although OF is a tad bit richer. I use LW for my cuttings.:bigjoint:

Sup fellas, well I'm a first time grower as well and did quite a bit of research on the fox farm lineup, what I did was use "happy frog" when they were seedlings. Soil did get a little compact so I do suggest adding some perlite to the mix. Once I transplanted into 3 gallon containers I switched to "ocean forest" the guy at the hydro store told me it was there new mix with more perlite added, so far the soil is staying nice and fluffy! here is a pic they are 4 1/2 weeks from sprout! bongsmilie
