:weed:Ok so im using ocean forrest by fox farms wich is supposed to be at 6.3-6.8 i added some perlite to the soil for aeration. Im using a crappy ph tester but its showing a ph around 7.3-7.8 in my soil alone. Using the same meter on my tap water im getting around 6.5-7.0. I know i need a better ph tester but broke atm. Should i try and lower the ph without having a better tester?

If i do try and lower it keep in mind im broke so i was reading i could use some coffee grounds to do so. Will this work and how much do i use?
Or should i water with tap water instead of the gallon jugs of spring water i have been buying to lower it.

Trying to do a organic / outdoor grow

I have read the faq as well seen something about sawdust. Dont really have a compost pile for cuttings.:weed:

Don't get so stressed out about PH. Believe me it will drive you crazy.

The water you are using will bring the soil PH down a bit anyway.

Plants those seeds and just keep your eyes on the plant growth.

Let the plant tell you what it needs

^ I agree, also foxfarm soil is good stuff. when I use it I NEVER check the ph. If the plant looks good you are doing great. After a while though the soil will lose its ability to maintain proper ph. Just take two inches of soil off the top and add about 3 or 4 cause the original soil will settle especially outdoors. Just remember not to ever ever ever put any non-organic matter into the soil as in nutes or even chlorinated water. This will kill the living organisms that break down the matter your plants thrive on. Good luck on your grow.
