Fox Farm TB, GB, BB vs. TB, GB, BB + Solubles

So I've seen some debate across all forums on whether or not there is a big difference using the Fox Farm water soluble nutrients, Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz and Cha-Ching in conjunction with Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom, as opposed to just Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom.

(little back story) For about 3 years now, I've grown in a 2 week perpetual cycle, meaning i harvest every 2 weeks by taking clones every 2 weeks, so the cycle goes on. Al B Fuct did something very similar to this in this forum, but mines a little smaller, in soil and everything is taken from only 1 mother.

So the reason i am posting this is because of this cycle, when i change something up, i still start with my clones that are in veg, and work them through the cycle normally to see if it changed anything. I decided to start using the 3 water soluble Fox Farm nutrients because i had heard good things.

Because i still have older plants running toward the end of the cycle, i have now ended up with an experiment. The harvest that is coming up in 1 week will be WITHOUT the water solubles, and every harvest after that (so coming up in 3 weeks) will be WITH the water solubles.

This will work pretty good i think as all my clones are from the same mother, fed the same amount of nutes (except for the water solubles obviously) and run through the same conditions, this should be a fairly accurate experiment.

I plan to take the average weight per plant like i always have, but post here the difference to see if i gained any weight using these new solubles. Ill also post some before and after pics of the buds, just to see if i gained any extra snow, seeing as thats a claim from the Cha-Ching. So for starters, i attached a pic of my setup (camera phone, pics will be way better later).

Im growing Purple Erkle, and finishing out a very small batch of Blue Dream (which wont be included in the experiment) in Fox Farm Ocean Forest, all in 16oz dixie cups. I only vegged for 1 week on all of the ones in the experiment. So its clone for 2 weeks, veg 1 week, flower 8 weeks. I have 2 lights, 1 400w conversion HPS (which is getting changed to a 600w soon, but this wont affect the experiment as im changing my first light which only is for the 0 to 4 week old flowering plants) and a 600w. The temp obviously affects all plants equally as they are right next to each other. I use Fox Farm Grow Big, Big Bloom and Tiger Bloom (and of course now Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz and Cha-Ching) and follow their soil schedule with these.

So, well see how this turns out in a few weeks and hopefully get some good data on a side by side comparison.

So got home last night, found that the drying plants were to my liking so i trimmed them off the stems. I ended up with 41.8 grams from 9 plants, coming to 4.64 grams per plant. This was WITHOUT the water soluble nutrients. Keep in mind im doing sog, so its a lot of small plants. The buds were fairly dense but nothing to amazing going on. Smell is pretty good, but not wafting all over the place. After the cure ill have another update on this one.

The ones that are still flowering (will be pulled this wed) are looking pretty crystally. Trichs that already put the previous harvest to shame. Id say just as far as looks go, the water soluble nutrients are worth their weight in gold. Ill end up posting side by side pics of harvested and cured results after im all done. As for now, this is what were looking at for the non-water soluble harvest.

tomorrow morning the plants that have been getting the water solubles will be put into 24 hour darkness in prep for the harvest on wednesday. So far they are looking prime, well have to wait another 10 days or so to determine whether or not the solubles helped in packing on weight.

make sure you post your findings, id like to see the def. difference it makes using the solubles along w/ the liquids. I have the full line up of F.F. nutrients but, ive never done a side x side comparison of one w/ and one w/out. So far ive been using all six of their nutes and ive had the largest indoor yields ive ever had

Sub'ed, as I paid almost $90 for the trio pack and want to see results other's are getting. I raised some fat colas using the solubles.

If you have your grow tuned in, which it sounds like you do, I bet you see a difference. 1/4 tsp per gallon they go along way. I personally think they are worth the cost especially when used in outdoors grows. Timing is key with Open Sesame and Beastie Blooms to get the full benefits.

really interested to see how the buds with the solubles turns out....i just got some cha ching but really wondering when to use it and how much. i hear you can hermie your plant right at the end with cha ching because of how strong that shizz is.....dope thread tho man.

Not sure about the hermie thing, but cha ching should be used for the last 4 weeks of flowering.

I havent really had any problems burning or herming anything so far, and i follow the FF soil schedule closely. Every feeding is with their line and every other watering (since they say to feed every other watering) i use 1 tsp molasses and 1 tsp h2o2. I have seen and ESPECIALLY smelled a difference because of the solubles. Used to be you could pick one of the plants up and get a nice hefty whiff, now you can smell this in my driveway (live in the woods, so not a huge issue). Ill probably throw some post harvest pics up here tomorrow before i hang them up to dry.

Well, just cut and trimmed 11 plants, and damn...

id say, and this is just speaking as far as bag appeal goes at this point, the micros are awesome. Ive got trichs all over the place, the smell is outrageous and fairly stickier. Obviously the big update will come after the dry to see if these characteristics carry over, but im keep these water solubles. Granted it may not be this way for everyone, but you can see in the pics so far they are looking very full, the buds are a bit more dense than they non solubles buds and nice and snowy.

So in about 7-9 days ill be giving the big weight update, now heres some pics of the just picked:

Looking good brotha, I am subbed cus I use all 6 recomended FF nutes and I also grow in FFOF soil. Even if the difference was 2 grams for you imagine on a larger plant what the difference would be! :)

Hey wall SHIT, looking great man! I am actually trying to accomplish a setup similar to yours. One quick question, how many weeks did you let your first plant stay in the vege state before you took a cutting to clone? How big should that cutting be?

Thanks! For my setup i actually have an old mother that has been around for about 8 months. I take all my purple clones from her. I believe i let it veg for about a month or month and a half from clone before i began to clone off of her. I started out with only a few from her though. But this is where my setup differs the most from Al B Fuct's setup. Since its a purple plant it doesnt grow super tall and the nodes are pretty close together, so if i take a clone with 5 nodes on it, its still only about 4 inches tall. I usually take about 22 clones (however i was taking less, hence only 10 and 11 for the experiment). From there they root for about 8 days, but i have a 2 week cloning cycle. So if one shows good roots 9 days into a 14 day cloning cycle they get that extra time in veg. This doesnt really change their height too much for those remaining days so my canpoy remains fairly even still. I just dont like letting roots hang out in my clone trays, makes me nervous. So when they show enough roots i put into FF Ocean Forest and veg for 2 weeks (just started the 2 week veg cycle, the experiment im doing in here is with vegging for 1 week).

Nice looking bunch! :) LOL Is that an HTG lighter in that pic?
Sure is! handiest little lighter Ive ever had

Ive also updated my setup picture because my camera phone didnt do it justice. So in the pic (since i switched from 1 week veg to 2 week veg) i have a gap for the time being where my plants are 1 week apart instead of the 2 weeks. Right now my earlier cycle is spread out a bit though. This is working itself out though and it should be for the better as im getting a lot larger clones from that extra week of veg. As you can see, on the right, those clones had 1 week of veg and now on their 8th week of flower, where as the ones all the way on the left had 2 weeks of veg and are on their 1st week of flower. The difference in size is awesome, about double where the other ones were at that point. So ill definitely be posting those numbers when i get around to chopping the bigger ones.

I'm sold on the solubles. I'm convinced that the three pack paid for itself on my first grow with them and I have enough left over for about 20 more grows. :)
