FoxFarm Advice Needed--by "old" hippie

I have been smoking this weed for 45yrs now and have decided to try my luck with FoxFarm products. (since I fucked up trying miracle grow soil and osmocote! in my last attempt.) in a 5x5' grow area in 3 gal containers with 400watt mh/hps system

I don't have the money for the full FoxFarm lineup so I figured I would get Grow Big and Big Bloom for the next attempt.

Should I use these products at "full strength" or dilluted?? Are these two the ones I should use or are there better alternatives?

Boy has growing become more complex with all these added products and knowledge!!!

Peace:peace:

I've heard more bad than good about thier nute lineup.

There soil is awesome, but I'm not sure about the nutes.

I'm having supberb results with foxfarm soil and Maxi Bloom as a start to finish nute.

Here is what I'm following with a lot of VERY positive results that is hard to overlook. Check it out, no sense in buying a bunch of bottles of shit you do not need..

FF is good shit, as long as you add lime to the soil. I've got colas fat as soda cans, long as my forearm under a 400w. Buds are so dense and heavy my 5 gal buckets are top-heavy before watering, I'm afraid to move them, lol. Journal in my sig. (1 tsp per gal tiger bloom, 5 gal buckets FFOF is what I use for flowering)

I've tried other nutes, but with FF it's hard to fuck up. :leaf:

FFOF = Foxfarm Ocean Forest. I use 1 cup powdered dolomite lime per cubic ft of soil, 1.5 cubic ft bag needs 1 1/2 cups lime. If it's already in containers, then loosen the top layer of soil and mix in 2 tbsp per gallon of soil (or about half a cup for 3 gal pots) and throw an extra layer of soil over that to keep it from drying out. :peace:

Big bloom is just an organic micro nute....you will need tiger bloom or another bloom enhancer for flowering as big bloom cant take you all the way.

Look at big bloom as a supplemental during the plants entire life.

and TBH (to be honest) there are much more effective (and cheaper) nutrient lines out there.

Ok i just tried foxfarms for a grow and grew some super duper thats lacking in the duper due to my piss poor dry/cure, but here is whats up,

I did the three pack big bloom, grow big, and the tea bottle the hydro pack, I used great white for my mych/bennies, and just a pinch of miracle grow from time to time, cause the hydro nutes dont have any urea, and brer rabbit brand molasses, started about 1/4 strength every other watering at 1 1/2 months in FF ocean forest, grew fast quick with excellent production, I just pulled a 3 gallon potted pineapple xpress that has been flushing for 3 weeks for the last three weeks i sampled a main stem each week to test for taste, cut a 1/4-1/2 ounce dry stemthe first two weeks, and still got 36 grams dry off of her on the third cut. oh and my 5 gallon DWC has two lavender plants in it, both have colas the size of my forearm.

I will be a repeat FF customer

and as for FFOF....it can be hit or miss, I've had great bags, I've had seriously hot bags.

I believe this all depends on which distributor you get the product from, as I believe they have an east and west coast plant (or the east coast moved to Alabama, I cant remember)

Agreed, but for new growers (like me), foxfarm is hard to fuck up.

see I feel the complete opposite.

I started off in FFOF, and the trio. I find not knowing exactly whats in my soil, and whats being retained when I feed (npk and micro wise) to be a problem with my style of growing.

Dont get me wrong, I've grown some very beautiful plants in FFOF. And seen others do the same.

But I've been growing far more beautiful plants in coco, using synthetic organic blends. And my growth rate is 5x that of soil, with its natural compaction.

I can also control every aspect of nutrient..i.e what goes in, whats retained and what comes out. I find this hard to do with soil.

other added benifits...coco is re usable, much more space saver friendly...and is cheaper in comparison to any soil @ 1.5cuft

....I'm not trying to change anyone's mind.

what nutrient lines would you suggest? Since you say there are better ones out there as well as cheaper?

I am an experienced Fox Farm Nutrient user. My suggestion is to start out 1/3 strength of what the Feeding Schedule says and eventually work your way up to half strength. By the time your fully flowering you'll wanna be at 1/2-3/4 strength. The reason I say this is because your plant will get burned if you follow the feeding schedule exactly. Hopefully this helped. And you are going to want to buy Tiger Bloom once you are flowering, your gonna need P and K.

Ppl who bash FF nutes are rubes that dont know how to grow. There are other nutrients that are better, but FF is perfect and simple for someone to begin growing with and it gives you excellent results. Look at the pics in my Signature if you have any doubts. They are affordable, available at all hydro stores, and anyone can do a 3 part nute system.

Later on you can add flowering boosters such as open sesame, beastie bloomz, and cha ching, if you want to maximize your results even more.

I'm not one to suggest cheap nutrients....This is my hobby and I love to drop cash on new shit that I may never use.

I use botanicare CNS17 grow bloom and ripe (synthetic for coco) in conjunction with botanicare Pure Blend Original grow and bloom (organics) Hydroplex (last week). Also with Dyna gro protek, Cal/mg +, Rhizotonic and Cannazyme (after harvest) I have Snow storm ultra but havnt used it yet.

this = $$$. But It's my addiction.

You can do things for FAR more cheaper then what I spend...specially growing in a potting soil full of nutes.

edit: I grow in an inert medium, that holds zero nutrient (hydro) and feed EVERY watering. As you could understand this = more $$, as soil holds onto and binds with nutrients.

If you decide to go with just big bloom and grow big i would highly suggest using mollasses as well in your mixture. Me personally i would go with Grow Big, Tiger Bloom and mollasses. You will make it finbe throughout veg using growbig at 1/2 strrength, having grown on a budget before i can relate to your situation. when times were like that i would feed-water-feed. But only feeding @ %50.
You should be fine.
