Foxfarm soil mixture, mutes needed?

Looking to buy FoxFarm Organic and wanted to mix it with Mushroom compost, perlite and earthworm castings. I was thinking the mix would be:
Fox Farm - 60%
everything else (perlite, mushroom, castings) 40%

My question is this a good mix?
Would I need to add mutes in Veg?

I am thinking FF big bloom in flowering (and molasses).

I rather stay organic throughout.

Thanks!!!

You dont need the additives in the FFOF its fine the way it is for a short veg time, how long do you plan to veg for?? The FF Big bloom will work fine with the molasses, 1 tbsp per gallon every watering throughout flowering till the end.

Stick with FF nutes, I have and it has done me well. I used FFOF soil and I bought their three pack of nutes big bloom, grow big, and tiger bloom. Stick with their feeding schedule and start them out at 1/4 strength nutes and see what the plant can take. If you flush your plants you can use chem nutes on them.

Yeah organic is nice but I have seen so many times that people keep adding different nutes and it is hard to diagnose a problem they are having. FF has their tested feeding schedule that goes with their soil so for beginers like me I like to keep it simple. But everyone has their own way to grow.

Absolutely I believe in the KISS method Keep It Simple Stupid lol, for a beginner start very simple with minimal plants till you get it under control, READ READ READ!!!!

That is what I did and thanks to RIU and it's members I have a nice little crop 52 days into flower! :) You can check it in my signature if you want. I would never be where I am at in my grow if it wasn't for reading about 4 hrs a day and all the RIU members here willing to help! I did start out with too many plants though! That was my one mistake.

Thanks all for your replies.

I plan on Veg for 4 weeks (One week in a cup then transplant for 3-gal grow bags for 4 weeks) and flower for 8-9 weeks.

Um another thing is if you plan to veg for 4 weeks you may notice some yellowing in the plants due to LACK of NITROGEN depending on your strain and how heavy they eat. If anything just pick up a cheap bottle of N smallest you can find, They carry Alaska FISH EMULSION at home depot if you have one the bottle is about 5 bucks. That is only if you notice yellowing later in veg!! Haze

Agreed with haze2 I vegged in FFOF mixed with an additional 25% perlite (3:1 ratio 3 parts ffof to 1 part perlie). I vegged for 4-5 weeks and did notice some yellowing starting right around the week 4 area so I got some Alaska Fish Emulsion (5-1-1) added a small amount to the next watering and oh my did they love the nitrogen!

Honestly I get better results using FFOF/extra Perlite the Alaska Fish Fert for veg and Fox Farms Big Bloom and Blackstrap Molasses for flower than I was getting using Canna Terra Vega/Flores in an inferior soil... So I cant say its better than the Canna because the soil I used was junk that grow compared to the ocean forest mix. I would like to give it another shot but I really am liking my newest and very simple nute regieme.

In conclusion I would just get some of the fish fert and big bloom and molasses and call it good for now. You can always try different stuff later if you want. Its up to you but doing that route it IS all organic all products are OMRI listed.
