FR33MASON'S Perpetual Grow (Est. 2012) *re-deux*

yes, yes I did. I got those seeds from Kelowna B.C. Where I knew a grower. It was an outdoor grow to which he had missed a male and fertilized over 200 females. Needless to say, I come away with a crapload of beans.
16 years later they have survived and I'll post some pics of the new seedlings.

Well there will be some tasty nugs hiding in those beans! On ya mate.

Oh where to start…

Well first off, thank you to all for the new interest in my journal…very humbling to me and on that note I had better make this post and others that follow...stellar.

Well let’s start off with pics of Jillybean and Jack the Ripper.

Jillybean at six weeks:

Well just like the Berry Bomb and the Lemon Kush, This Jilly has suffered a bit of calcium and magnesium deficiency. I was more on top of it this time and it has only slightly stunted growth and development. I am pretty sure I have figured out the causative factors to all this and will explain with pics later in this update.

Jillybean is still developing and the calyxes are beginning to swell on the first wave. Because of the deficiency, I expect another spurt of development in the next week due to the corrective actions I took.
Otherwise she smells like cherries and has pretty damn decent development for a 430W. I gave a lower bud a light squeeze to check density and it was super firm…cool.
All I have been doing is upping the dose of Epsom and molasses to my water just a bit for the deficiency.

This girl has some serious bush!

The compactness of this plant and the branching are two main characteristics of this plant’s growth habit.
This plant was never topped so bravo little girl. She is about 24” from the top of the pot and is showing strong budding all over. This plant has a smell that reminds me of Maui Wowie with that armpit skunk smell which I happen to like...she’s going to be a stinky one that is for sure.

I am unfortunately expecting the Cal./ Mag. Deficiency to reoccur with her in about week 5 to six as with the others that have been before her but I am truly prepared for this go around with some organic teas at the ready and I have top dressed the soil with some Epsom and powdered dolomitic lime but there is more to this deficiency issue and I’ll explain now.

After the root balls had dried enough from the Berry Bomb and Lemon Kush, I realized that the plants had driven the majority of roots down into the pure living soil and was shying away from the diluted down soil that I had mixed 50/50 with living soil and Promix.

In these pictures, you will see where the roots had developed primarily in the bottom ¼ to 1/3 of the root ball strata. Some roots migrated back up the strata as I had top dressed the pots with a flowering compost. So that means only 30% of the growing media in the pots was being productive

H
ere is Berry Bomb’s root ball:

june102012046.jpg

june102012050.jpg

And here is Lemon Kush’s root ball:
june102012052.jpg

june102012054.jpg

Now you can see the similarities of the root development.

This is the conclusion I have come to:

- The Living soil needs to be amended with more dolomite lime and Epsom …Check.
- Because I prefer to grow fewer but larger plants, I must increase pot size from 3 Gal to at least 5 gal containers…Check.
- Last but not least, I must use 100% living soil with no dilution…Cheeeyeck!

Now a picture of the Romulan seedlings:
june102012059.jpg

A little bit of a rough start but hey, after 16 years of stasis, we would all have a little bit of bed head.

A
picture of the JTR clones at 11 days:
june102012061.jpg

All (4) survived and are looking good and ready for transplant.

Now I have a problem, I have not lost a single clone as of yet so I will have 11 clones in 1 gallon pots and things are beginning to fill up fast…So what to do, I guess I could give one or two away… geeze louise lol.

Well that’s about it for now.

Well, it is week 7 for Jillybean and week 3 for Jack The Ripper. First off is Jillybean:

june172012004.jpg

june172012018.jpg

Well this Jillybean is definitely getting close to harvest. I am thinking another 2 weeks easy none the less. It is showing a curious but understandable late, secondary growth spurt in calyxes. I will ride this out a bit and not be hasty with a chop like I did with the Berry Bomb and Lemon Kush. I wouldn’t mind a bit more body to a notoriously heady plant.
The smell is ridiculously cherry every time I move it, the room smells like cherry Koolaid or candy…And from the descriptions given from those who have the candy store phenotype, I am now positive that is what I was so graciously gifted from all things ganja.

Next is Jack The Ripper week three of flowering:

june172012035.jpg

Not too sure about this plant yet.
Don’t get me wrong, the smell reminds me of the funky skunk smell of Maui Wowie.
The trichomes are beginning to develop profusely and this plant’s natural branching structure is making it a candidate for being a heavy producer.
All that being said, it is one leafy bugger so hopefully this will balance out with some heavier bud production…time will tell.

Well I am going to transplant the Romulan seedlings and the JTR clones later today.
I am also doing some training on all the clones with the JTR’s being the exception.

Possibly next week I will transplant a Berry Bomb and a Lemon Kush into their flowering containers and will go in to replace the Jillybean who took up half the flowering chamber.

The next Jillybean I throw in will definitely be topped and trained.

Enjoy your Sunday-funday people.

Well I'm back from almost biting the big one when I fell over 20' straight down through a roof. I shattered my wrist and a vertebrae in my back. This all happened at the beginning of July. Needless to say, I had to let my garden go for a bit and I lost every plant *sniffles*

So I have been able to garden now for just about three months. I now have five Vortex and one Black Russian on their 21st day of flowering.

Here is the Black Russian:

And here are the Vortex.

IMG_2551_zps2f9a41ab.jpg

Sorry for the picture quality, I'll get some better shots when I have to pull them out in the next couple of weeks.

The vortex are stretching pretty good but they are under only a 430W HPS so not too bad considering. I plan on upgrading to a 600W for the next crop.
I have never seen such rapid germination and development in any other seeds other than these TGA seeds because the same went for Jillybean and Jack the ripper where the germination was all within 24 hours and flowering was being obviously expressed within 5 days of flipping to 12/12. The trichome development on these Vortex are also indicative of TGA genetics with large, fat heads forming at an early stage of flowering. The smell is like a skunk sprayed on some fruit and cheese with a touch of diesel. The Black Russian smells like a sweet flower compared to the Vortex.

Happy New year everyone and happy growing in 2013.

I am just posting a few pics that I took last week at day 35 of flowering.

IMG_2625_zps92bb1cbc.jpg

As you can see they are all coming along as nicely as a 430W grow can be. I have one monster vortex that has developed (3) 8" main colas. This plant has the potential to be a great yielder but it does not have a strong smell so it may not make the cut.

All the plants are very resinous and sugary.

The Black Russian freebie has turned out to be an awesome Blueberry as there is no mistaking the structure and most of all, the smell...Oh god, the smell is so schnig schnaggly wonderful so much so that I would almost rather smell the plant than smoke it LOL!..Almost.

I don't know if the Vortex is influencing the Blueberry or if I just lucked out and procured a really nice Blueberry as it's as sticky as it is smelly.

I will have to wait to get individual photos because the plants are somewhat intertwined and I just don't want to disturb them until harvest if I don't have to.

I'll post some pics (day 42) tomorrow.

Cheers.

Well the Vortex and Blueberry are at day 42 today.

Let's start with the newly realised Blueberry.

IMG_2643_zpsbb7d875f.jpg

IMG_2638_zps4fca5edd.jpg

IMG_2635_zps4bf8e2e1.jpg

As you can somewhat see, there are plenty of trichomes but they are not as large as the Vortex's trichomes.
The plant smells like a blueberry pie or pop-tart...yum! This Blueberry is as sticky as any of the Vortex so it holds good promise.

Next is a couple of pics of the large Vortex.

IMG_2627_zpsa5137792.jpg

IMG_2659_zps59bfc788.jpg

This Vortex is showing true sativa dominance as you can see with the major stretching and airy bud development. Also the buds are indicating that they are going to take longer to mature with only one or two pistils begining to darken and shrivel as compaered to the rest of the plants which are showing about 5% darkening and retracting pistils. It lacks any real pungency in it's scent so this is a negative in my books.

As for the rest of the Vortex, they are coming along nicely and here are a few pics of them.

IMG_2652_zps3a1a445a.jpg

IMG_2625_zps92bb1cbc.jpg

IMG_2631_zps775aac8d.jpg

Vortex is definitely not the highest yielding plant out there, especially with a 430W but what seems to be produced is definitely going to be very high quality.

Until next week, cheers and happy growing.
