Freeze Drying?

Okay its good enough for NASA. I was wondering if it would be at all possible to freeze dry bud. I get that Trichs get very brittle when cold and can break off easily. But if handled with care would this be a viable option? Has anyone ever done it? If so how were the results? Thank you RIU and keep smoking

Haven't tried it sounds interesting though. You thinking about doing this right after harvest or after some dry and cure time?

I have no idea what the affects of freeze drying your buds right after harvest would be. I've put budz in the freezer before but they've been nicely cured before hand. I heard freezing bud makes it last a little longer? Probably something based on nothing...

Even in the most airtight vacuum sealed bags, freezing is not a good idea. There are so many things that can go wrong, the least of which being a few lost trichomes. Freezing creates condensation which can lead to mold, bud rot and a host of other problems. Not a good idea.

I can eliminate condensation by placing them on cooling racks and stack them accordingly. I get the basic idea of freeze drying food that's safe to eat. So I can't imagine drying bud to smoke being bad for you.
