freezer grow cooling question

ok so i am getting a big freezer from work for free it is like 7ft tall 6 ft wide and prob 4ft deep and i would like to use it to grow in. i want to use it in my garage to make seeds so i dont have to keep buying them. where i live it is really hot probally around 100 degrees in the garage during the day so i am trying to figure out how to keep the grow area cool i cant make seeds inside because my current grow is 5 females in flower and dont wanna risk messing that up so any ideas would be great

freezer should be pretty cool for growing in i think. it won't leak light and they are usually white inside which will reflect light well.
they are well insulated which will create heat problems. if you use anything more than growing cfls (not the ones meant for table lamps) you are gonna need a big intake and exhaust for all that heat. be careful when making seeds by the way, if you open that freezer you will get little dustings of pollen on you (especially if you have a fan blowing) then 10 mins later if you go in the flowering tent, hey presto.... double seeds.

you will need a 9" exhaust fan i'm thinking, gonna get hot in there with all that insulation (6" if you are using proper growing cfls)
4" intake is usually enough in a space this size, even if it is pulling in air that is 100+ circulation helps (i prefer a portable ac unitblowing towards the tent)
i would try to get as small an oscillating fan as possible (5-6" if possible)this will keep pollen from blowing around in there excessivley.

i just wrote this post assuming that you will be keeping males in here, ideally you would just keep pollinated females in here and keep the male out in the garden or something ( if this was originally your plan forgive my ignorance).

pollen gets everywhere so try any wear overalls when in the garage area.

what were you thinking of doing anyway? you kinda got me interested now.

well i have a bubble bucket closet grow that im doing WW in right now but i wanna get a 2nd light and do like 12 autoflower at a time in there but dont wanna buy the seeds everytime. dont get me wrong the WW looks good but i put them in flower a week ago at 11in and they are now like 27 in lol so i want something thats a lil smaller and faster. the freezer is huge and wanna make seeds inside of it with cfls but its 100 degrees or more in there so not sure how to keep the inside of the freezer at like 70-80 without putting an airconditioner in the garage. and cant pull air in from outside cuz its just as hot

OH MAN!!! freezers are great man. they're super tight and pretty stealthy... if you put one in the gargae noone'll ever know

I guess an idiot would say turn on the freezer, or fix the cooling unit.

it want work with current cooling system. If that's what you'll be using to keep your 65-80 temp

i don't see how you expect to keep the temperature at 70-85 when the air outside is 100+ without an ac unit. i think that is physically impossible.

put ac in the garage pointing towards the intake fan of the freezer, it will still be about 90 in there but that is ok to grow in so long as it isnt a pussy ass strain. they get used to it, just ask cali growers

I agree, your temps will be +5-10 degrees than your intake, with good flow. I would run a new trunk line off your central air and pop it in there or get a small AC, those are your options. Running an AC to grow weed is retarded if you ask me, unless your really getting into it. 1 window unit is basically a 1000W HPS, theres your loss.

Of course, during the winter, you may be screaming about keeping it warm, cuz that will be an issue too........Good luck man!!

thanks guys for all the responses the freezer when on stays like -10 degrees inside since its a commericial freezer so do think i can run that and def dont wanna put a ac unit in there since it will be to expensive wont even be worth it... i guess will prob wait til current grow is dont in bout 6 weeks and then make my seeds in there....but if i make seeds in my grow room will there be left over pollen that could affect my future plants? thanks for the answers i am on my first grow so all the info is greatly appreciated

You could always put frozen gallon jugs of water in the very bottom. Thats how the cooler box in my camper works.

Also you could drain most of the freon out of the freezer and it wont cool as well.

Dude unless u plan on gutting the thing an fab it for producing seeds there is nothing you can do that's logical. Why do you want to produce seeds?

dont do that!!! talk about a fire hazzard, that will make it run VERY VERY HOT, the compressor will be working 3X harder, using 3X more power, making 3X more heat. Do u see where this leads??
