dont use a bag, if you plan on keeping it for long periods of time, darkness and mason jars are the key. You need it airtight, which a bag isnt. A vacuum pack bag will squish your nugs.

"next time get a mailing tube and put the weed in there and that in the bag and vac away. It will not be able to crush them this way" shoulda read this first. Thats probably a good way for weight.

Yes it is :) Plus it stays super fresh. It is important the bud is properly dried and cured before vacuum sealing though. :) However, to each his own.

I guess I'm missing something, cuz' I don't see how all the air can be out if the cylinder if it's not absolutely packed? I suppose it creates a vacuum like in the home-canned garden veggies process.
Though the jars aren't full of liquid to the brim, the air between the liquid and the lid is void? WoW!

Just cut a mailing tube to the width of your vacuum bag. Fill tube and place in bag. Vacuum away. there will be no air in there but the tube will keep the bag from crushing the shit out of your smoke. If you have the right vacuum sealer you can just vacuum seal jars. I do not so I use mailing tubes and vac bags for longer term storage/travel.
