Your basement should have cold air intake for the furnace/water tanks. Mine actually has 2, one for the furnace directly then another one drops by it for fresh air for the other gas appliances.

I have my 5x9x7 feet tent in a small room in the basement, one side of the room I have exhaust from the tent going through the drywall into the other room and the other side I have another cut out on the drywall to pull fresh air from the furnace room (shares same wall). So when the tent exhausts hot air it pulls cool fresh air into the room from the furnace room which in turn pulls some fresh air from the intake from outside.

Hang on there, young Pada-wan. You are looking at this "problem" from the wrong end! To begin with: you don't really want "fresh air". Stale house air has got more co2 in it, and it naturally sinks into the basement. All you need to worry about is venting the hot exhaust air out - maybe you could vent it though the furnace exhaust vent. This way the "Cold Canadian Winter" isn't a problem.
