Fresh new grow. Have some questions on setup.

So, I'm about to splurge on my first DIY 6" PVC aero grow. I am building two 3'x3' 12 site aeroponic systems. They will be in a 10'x12' room with 1000W HPS light over each aero system. I am going to bring in external air with a small intake fan and try to displace roughly twice as much air with the exhaust system. I know it seems as though I have it mostly planned out, but I am open to suggestions (lighting, fans, anything I've overlooked).

Just to satisfy some curiosity, here is the lighting systems I intend to use (this is just the first link I ran across....not advertising!)

The fan situation is where I'm kind of stumbling. I am not sure what size fans I should use on a space that large. Also, does anyone think I will have any heat issues (either in the res or ambient temp) in that size of a room? It is a finished and insulated room btw.

Thanks again in advance for any help!

edit: I plan on growing a Super Skunk in one and a Northern Lights strand in the other

I would go with an 8" inline fan for exhaust, and a 6" on the intake for that setup. I would also run the hell away from any device with the name baddass. That brand anything sucks! As far as, are you going to have any issues with ambient temps, it's all about how cool you keep your room, which, is going to depend on how cool your intake air is. Since you went out and splurged on a trick ass aero setup, i would us a rez chiller. Although not 100% necessary, it can really save you some heartache.

Oh yeah, do you have ur hoods yet? Cause if you don't, go air
Cooled. Pull/push(depending on how you set this up)your exhaust through your lights. Do you need to wory about smell? Put a charcoal filter on that shit. Like this: charcoal filter hung high>your hoods>fan(8")>out. Or like this: mount fan(8") to your matching charcoal filter. Hang that fan/filter combo up high>push air through your hoods then out.

How do you plan on controlling temps? Ac and a dehumidifier are a must.
It's not always a MUST. I've grown all up and down Cali, some areas yes, others ac is not needed, dehu is(usually). Example: Santa Cruz not needed, SmelLA in summer, sure. Winter time in Norcal(even though it's warmer than usual for winter)it would usually be a safe bet, you won't need ac. Like i said in my earlier response to the OP's question, the temp of the growroom will be determined by the temp of the intake air. Lot's of variables

First of all, THANK YOU for the quick replies! I have really come to enjoy the community since I started lurking a few months ago.

As far as that specific brand, I will try to stay far away from it. I just know I want a dedicated 1000W HPS hanging over each 3x3 system I build. I was planning on drawing in fresh air for the intake, but I worry about the temperature fluctuations. I currently live in the midwest and it is currently -12F outside right now (yuck!) and peaks around 95+F in the summers. I'm sure even if I pull in that temp the lights will counteract that issue, but I am curious to hear what you guys have to say about that. I will check into a chiller before I get everything setup. May have to use the ole' frozen water bottle trick for a couple months though lol.

Glad you brought that up! As I stated above, I'm curious on how much the ambient temps outside will affect my fresh air intake. I will check into a cheap an ac/heat unit. Any suggestions on brand/size for the dehumidifier?

Until you need an ac for those summer/warmer months, put the intake/exhaust fans on a day-night temp switch. Along with that your going to need a dehu. As far as how big dehu to get, how humid is it to begin with over there? Winter and summer avg?

The idea behind indoor growing is total control of environment. Its the only way you will ever achieve top results. Consistency is key.

Average summer temperature: 70 to 80F. Average winter temperature: 25 to 35F
Average humidity is 72% (Ranging from 84-58% from morning to evening)

With that type of humidity + you using an aeroponic system(which will add humidity), I would go no smaller than a 70pint. As far as brands, danby ones from ebay, or lg from home depot are all good. I would also figure out a way NOT to pull in air directly from outside during winter months. Thats some cold shit man.

Yeah. I'll probably just hookup two different intakes. One fresh air for nicer months and another to pull from attic space or somewhere with better ambient temps. Thanks for all the great ideas!
