Hey killed the chees followed the instructions on nutes you live and learn...would like/badly need advice..my first real grow, in coco n perlite under 400 watt dimmable dimmed to 250 and boosted to 270 will give em full 400 watt when repotted (5 - 7 days) and boosted to 475 on change over. Ph,ed water with quarter strength a+b and rizitonic, area Is 1.5 x1.5 loft temps 23 hot and 15 degrees cool has went down to 13 once or twice..Are they growing slow? Would be nice to hear from some experienced growers on here, newbee to the site and growing..thanks in advance anything is appreciated. First pic is 11/11 about 2 weeks since pop, and second is 28/11 17 days growth as this is my first grow so I'm unsure of many things firstly how quickly my plants should be growing??WP_20141111_002.jpg

hi, im definatley no expert so can only give my thoughts and hope they make sense, firstly id ask what bulb spectrum you are running, id suggest when they are starting to get a cfl type light on them, when they are young they cant absorb loads of light so your just wasting electric and bulb life etc, also most people will agree that cfl type of lights can give you a really good start its only when they get to a few weeks that I then put them under the mh, growth rate is not any slower and when it does slow down you know its time to step up, it also helps keep the nodes tighter, spectrum is key, also humidity plays a big part in early life, as far as growing slow, sometimes all the work is going on under the soil/medium ie root zone, ive 13 in veg at the moment and theyre all waist high bar one that is about knee high, but when I potted up today she had the biggest root ball, so time will tell, I don't do coco etc as im in soil so cant say anything about that,
good luck and im sure youll get good sound advice from someone who grows your style
ps you might get more help if you post in another room,

thanks for the reply Its a dual spectrum sylvania..I have cfl and agree I was too quick with the mh.. and even the 250 setting its to early should I put them under the cfls or leave them..? yes I'm hoping most of the growing is underneath..maybe I should stop looking at them so much lol

dual spectrum is cool id proberly keep going now as long as they are looking healthy and green, you can allways raise the light if need be, don't want to confuse them lol, maybe keep a log and next run see the difference in growth rate, then youll know what works for you, I know what you mean about looking at them too much, I remember my first flowering freaked me out as you've spent all this time keeping them green and lush etc and then they go all mad and change, its weird!!
just occurred to me are you 24hr or 18/6 just I used to do 24hr but have defo found 18/6 to be more friendly

18/ 6 recon they need down time but who knows? So many differing opinions..going to invest in proper ph meter judging with colour chart atm confident in getting between 5.5 n 6.0 but would like exact tho I've read that slight range between recommended is good..im mixing coco with perlite tomorrow into 10 ltr pots for transplant will leave to drain and settle there seems to be little flies that emerge from coco in first few days when potted hopefully gone by time pots go into grow space..thinking about adding lime pellets to mix for mag deficiency..as some advice I've recently read although its a coco issue.what is your set up?

im in soil trying to be organic, no real need for ph adjustments etc or flushes and all that, don't get me wrong I get problems, but the worst is either of my making ie enviroment or maybe a bit of Epsom salts, it appealed to me as you don't get salt build ups and lock outs etc, as much, just look after the soil and let the soil look after the plant, though im only scratching the surface of it all, thought id get to learn how it goes in soil then I will proberly go to undercurrent dwc, I keep saying it but haven't taken the plunge yet, im not a green finger sort of person more like bumbling from one grow to the next, trying to learn as I go but I enjoy it, pulled 17.5 oz from 5 royal queen blue mystic last time not fantastic by some peoples standards but I was happy, done those a few times but have moved on to incredible bulk got 10 of them in flower now, looking good, 10 pineapple chunk in veg (wished id read more on them first) 2xsilver haze and 4 amnesia, some in veg n some in flower with the bulk, popping more bulks tomorrow to replace the ones in flower though im a bit late so that tent will be empty for a bit, once theyre all done ill proberly try hydro, just sorry I cant give you any advice with the coco. don't like the sound of the flies and that is that common with it then? id go with the lime pellets though just make sure you get the dose/amount right and id defo get a reliable phpen from what ive noticed its vital, and I reckon your right about the ph swing to get the better range of feed taken up

The flies seem to be common I noticed them after a few days in previous attempt/disaster and looked it up and its quite common..I chose coco as a substrate as I didn't want any pests and I was unsure about soil and nutes thought it would be easier if I knew exactly how much nutes the plant was getting..also it drains really well..the flies have gone and will sit filled pots in the shed for few days in sure they wont like Scottish weather and kill them off before they go near grow space I'd be over the moon if I got near That kind of results I've four on the go and half way through building a veggie room with 2 125watt dual and 4 45 watt..2 blue, 2 red bulbs..ive spent a bit of cash and space is terrific, well ventilated cool air from attic my next purchase will be good rhino scrubber and inline fan not an issue atm as small but next thing I need soonish..think this is an ace hobby tho..and cheap really. Il update on strain tomorrow its dark till twelve I know there is Barneys critical kush, lemon tai. Something an autoflower too..

cool set up you've got there i think the way your going is spot on, got to ask that tublar heater you have there does it do a good job?? as ive read mixed reviews from people, but don't know if its because theyre expecting to much. and I need something for my seedling propagating area, like an airing cupboard size
with the filter I used to run rhino pro, but let the local shop talk me into a phresh filter so far so good, im not one of those who thinks. what ever ive got is the best, im like if it works then great, but I do like trying other things just to compare, rhino worked great no complaints if this phresh one don't last then ill get a rhino again!!, yes I was chuffed with my last results though due to higher temps in flowering they were a bit loose and airy, but no real complaints, im trying to keep mostly 1 strain to try to max it out over a few grows, if I was just doing percy then id do exactly what your doing, the pineapple ive got are barnys, and so far everything ive had from herbies has popped and lived, I agree its a great hobby and can be cheap in the long run, when I done my first couple they were like real throw together grows but what a laugh doing it like that, much more fulfilling, ive popped my others today 10 bulks and a dinafem white widowx1 and deep cheesex2, im gonna do a log on this run in a couple of weeks just so I can see how much ive still to learn,

thanks.. the heater is ok just stops space getting really cold about this time above 13 degrees soon as there is a frost I have fan heater with therm that's going in very soon id say, grow space is in the loft which is great for temps and cool air but it will get too cold 6 or 12 hours without heat here.. don't really want temps below 10 as far ad I'm aware tube won't do that if its freezing outside..saying that would be perfect for propagation and runs 55watts cheap..rhino is what my local hydro shop sells premier and reasonable 115 quid for everything im still a while away from getting that yet few more things ph meter first..

Undercurrant dwc sounds complicated. Expensive? If you don't mind me asking what is meant by organic when growing, only natural nutes? What soil are you using do you mix your own?
