Friend or Foe?

Last season I started noticing these bugs on my flowering plants that initially I left alone but then started multiplying way too fast for me to feel comfortable about so started to pick them off one by one. However their build makes them seem like they might be on my side and help me take care of any potential pests. I've been flicking them off just to be safe but would like some second opinions. Also, interesting to note how they went from being dark colored and standing out to now green like this guy here, making them much harder to notice. Evolution at its finests.

I was guessing grasshopper I used to keep preying mantis in my Florida garden and never seen that type before and researched a shit ton. Question did u have any bites out of anything any damage at all?

Grass hopper...I get them too. Ive caught them munching my plants. Not bad damage though. Dont know what kind of hopper though

The best thing to do to know for sure is look on Google for green grasshopper nymph then put your location and match em up

Keep getting rid of them. I don't know what it is, but found a couple on one of my plants the other day and both leaves they were on had small holes in them. Unless we had a major outbreak I don't think they could do a ton of damage, but I'm not going to let it get anywhere near that point.

It's really small so definitely not a preying mantis, grasshopper nymph sounds more like a possibility.

That's the thing. Last season I let them go at first and then their population took off way too quick to make me feel comfortable about it. I too see them around parts that have holes in the leaves which also makes me suspicious about their motives. It's just with their sort of body structure they seem more the type to be hunting bugs and what not than chewing leaves.

Also, just to add to their characteristic profile, they're no where to be found on my plants that are still in vegetation mode. I've only ever seen them on plants that are flowering such as the clones that I got a bit too early and prematurely started flowering.

looks like what we call a cattiedid here if so leave them alone for they eat bad bugs but its hard to tell for sure in that picter,,ky
